Dear Siyabonga,

I am extending a warm welcome to you to St. John's College and Thomson House. I am
Sebastian Prozzi, your mentor for 2024.
Having spent the past four years at St. John's College, I can confidently assure you that blissful
years lie ahead, from your freshman year to the many exciting derby days to come. I understand
that you may be feeling a mix of nerves and curiosity, but remember, I am here to support you,
whether it's related to sports, academics, or anything in between.
I believe you have an interest in basketball and rugby, two of the most popular sports at the
college. I consider myself a sports enthusiast too; I play hockey and golf for the school. The
experiences and memories I've gained from the outstanding sports departments at St. John's
are something I hope you will also cherish.
Upon joining Thomson House, it's important to know that you are becoming part of a long line
of men who have stood here before you. The rich traditions upheld by this house and the strong
brotherhood are just a couple of the many aspects I'm confident you will contribute to the
college.
In 2020, when I joined the college, my mentor emphasized the importance of making the most
of one's time here, as it passes faster than you can imagine. As your mentor, I want to pass on
this wisdom to you and hope you have a fantastic college experience.
As a parting piece of advice I've gathered over the years at St. John's: "Give everything towards
everything," or in other words, "give it your all." And don't forget your basher on Fridays.
