Our client is currently seeking a Senior Process Engineer reporting directly to the HDRD Refinery

General Manager of our client based in Prince George, BC. The Senior Process Engineer is an integral
part of the Hydrogen Derived Renewable Diesel (HDRD) Refinery team, providing crucial technical
process engineering support for the refinery’s daily operations.
The key focus of this team member is to assume leadership and technical accountability for ensuring the
secure and dependable functioning of recently implemented convective renewable hydrogen reformer.
Process Engineers are tasked with pinpointing vulnerabilities in the plant, conceptualizing business
prospects, addressing process challenges promptly, and collaborating seamlessly with area coordinators,
environmental, maintenance, and engineering staff to achieve operational excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead and take technical responsibility for the safe and reliable operation of new convective renewable
hydrogen reformer.
Provide primary engineering functions, leading and directing operations during startups and process
upsets of the H2 Plant.
Offer secondary process engineering support to lipid hydrotreaters, dewaxing reactors, and other
renewable refinery unit operations.
Monitor and develop day-to-day operating targets and specifications of the convective reformer,
identifying and communicating any deviations and corrective actions required.
Identify and communicate unit performance capabilities through mass and energy balances, process
simulations, performance test runs, catalyst evaluations, and vendor/specialist consultations.
Participate in multidisciplinary plant-wide and corporate initiatives related to reliability, safety, and
operational integrity.
Contribute to process hazard assessments for responsible units, initiated by the management of change
process, engineering work requests, and unit PHA revalidations.
Play a role in planned and unplanned outages, including troubleshooting, shutdown support, initial/final
process equipment inspections, found work, and startup support.
Participate in root cause analysis and incident investigations, utilizing methodologies such as Sologic.
Provide process engineering support to evaluate, generate, and identify the feasibility of Engineering
Work Requests (EWR) & MOCs based on personnel safety, process safety, process reliability, unit
efficiency, and profitability.
Collaborate with operations to make continuous improvements to plant operations, safety, reliability, and
efficiency.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental requirements in the performance of position
responsibilities.
Primary Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
Ability to apply for Professional Engineer designation recognized by EGBC or APEGA.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, PPT, etc.).
Minimum 5-8 years of process engineering experience/unit contact engineering experience in an
industrial setting.
Advanced process engineering experience understanding of H2 reforming, feed purification, and
reforming.
Knowledge of ASME and API codes and regulations.
Previous experience working with and in H2 plants r. considered an asset.
