IMEST team members help national and foreign liaison officers utilize INTERPOL's databases
efficiently, facilitating real-time exchange of vital police data worldwide, including fingerprints,
photos, wanted person notices, and information on stolen documents and vehicles. They
customize IMEST services for member countries' needs before and during events, utilizing the I-
24/7 global police communications network for immediate outreach when necessary.

Ensuring public safety

IMESTs can transform into INTERPOL Response Teams during crises at major events,
reflecting the growing importance of event planning due to terrorism threats. The first IMEST
was dispatched to Portugal in 2004 for the UEFA European Football Championship, with around
60 teams deployed globally since then.
