READING- (32-41 min) duration


In reading module there are 5 types of questions.

❖MCQ Single answers (average 2 questions) 2 min per

❖MCQ Multiple answers ( same ) (-ve marking) 2 min per

❖Fill in the blanks (reading) 2 min per 4-5 qs

❖Fill in the blanks (reading & writing) 3 min per 4-5 qs

❖ROP (average 2 questions) 3 min per RE-ORDER

Tips and tricks to solve reading


❖ Fill in the blanks
There are some tips that can be used to solve fill in the
blanks more correctly.
● Collocation

● Contextual Clue

● parallel structure

● odd man out

● grammar (articles & tenses )

these clues

❖ Collocation:- For example: a demand for… have an aptitude for.. be


interested in… an increase/ decrease in…. be concerned about…. be concerned
with….know something about….be aware of….By remembering such words
most of the reading answers can be solved correctly.
❖ Contextual:- The words that are already given in the passage and there is
only need to concentrate to fill the answer, that is a very easy technique.

❖ Parallel structure:- It means we need to be careful while solving reading


fill in the blanks. For example:- yesterday, I went to market and purchased two
dresses for me. In this sentence, these two highlighted words went and
purchased both are second form of verb, we need to be careful while solving fill
ups that we are using the same form of verb or not. For example:- PTE has four
modules reading, listening, writing and speaking all the four words are with (ing)
can’t be changed.

❖ Odd Man Out :- This is very easy method for solving fill in the blanks.
question is :- she wants to ________ exercise daily. (a) taking (b)took (c)take. We always use
first form with to so automatically option (a) and (b) will be removed and right answer is
option (c). Therefore this method can be used and it is also known as elimination technique.

❖ Grammar :- Grammar
Tenses & Articles
Tenses :- our tenses and articles must be strong enough to use both these techniques
accurately. Rules of tenses present, past and future must be clear and use of A, An ,The too .

✔ If all these clues are in your hand properly then fill in


the blanks will be the most easy part of the pte for you .

questions .
