POSITION DESCRIPTION

SENIOR FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

Position Objective
The Senior Fitness Instructor is responsible to the Fitness Team Leader to ensure a high
quality of effective service is provided to the facility.

Position Summary
 To assist the Fitness Team Leader in meeting the needs of the CBay Fitness
members and in maximising the usage and membership of CBay Fitness.
 To support the Fitness Team Leader by providing leadership to the CBay Fitness
team.

Position Accountabilities (or Responsibilities)


 To fulfill the position responsibilities of a CBay Fitness Instructor.
 To maintain a high public profile of the facility and promote the facility in a creative and
attractive manner so as to establish and maintain a positive public image.
 Liaise with and take direction from the Fitness Team Leader in relation to daily work
activities and achieving overall Centre objectives.
 Assist the Fitness Team Leader to develop relevant CBay Fitness policies, procedures
and work practices as required for the safe and efficient operation of CBay Fitness and
communicate these to all staff.
 Actively assist to utilise and implement effective follow-up procedures for prospective
members in order to increase and retain membership.
 Assist the Fitness Team Leader in providing accurate, regular and timely training in a
variety of Fitness Instructing and Personal Training areas. Following up with appropriate
feedback to all CBay Fitness staff.
 Assist the Fitness Team Leader in developing Group Fitness Staff
 To ensure that facilities and equipment are maintained to an acceptable standard and
ensure highest standards are maintained across all service areas regarding
presentation, safety and cleanliness.
 Undertake such other duties consistent with the level of the position, as directed by the
Fitness Team Leader.

Personal Specifications
 Hold a recognized tertiary sport / leisure / fitness related qualification and have a sound
knowledge of fitness training including testing, prescription and monitoring of clients.
 A current First Aid certificate and current REP’s certification must be held
 Group Fitness Experience, ideally in Les Mills Group Fitness Programmes or the ability
to learn
 Flexibility in working hours (including weekends) and willingness to “do what it takes”.
 An understanding of local government structures and functions
 Decisive and solutions orientated.
 Well developed interpersonal, customer service and liaison skills
 Experience in Recreation/ Leisure computer programming and monitoring systems
