We use the Present Continuous:

• To talk about actions that are happening at the moment.


• E.g: Your son is eating the whole box of chocolates right now!

• To talk about annoying, repetitive actions.


• E.g: The baby is constantly throwing food to the floor!
Present Continuous – verb to play

• I am playing
• You are playing
• He is playing
• She is playing Verb to be + -ing form (main verb)
• It is playing
• We are playing
• You are playing
• They are playing
Irregular -ing forms

• The scientist is analysing the food at the moment.

• Harry is always getting food poisoning.


Present Continuous – verb to go (negative)
• I am not going
• You are not going
• He is not going
• She is not going
• It is not going
• We are not going
• You are not going
• They are not going
Present Continuous – verb to be (interrogative)
• Am I being…?
• Are you being…?
• Is he being…?
• Is she being…?
• Is it being…?
• Are we being…?
• Are you being…?
• Are they being…?
The Present Continuous is usually used with:
• At the moment;
• Right now;
• Now;
• Today;
• This month;
• Etc.
