3 ACCOMMODATION

3.1 GENERAL

Accommodation with necessary facilities to be provided on the following


basis :
2 Highest Officer cabins with bedroom, dayroom, office and bath/WC
4 Senior Officer cabins with bedroom, dayroom and shower/WC
*** 10 Junior officer cabins with shower/WC
1 Pilot cabin with shower/WC
*** 3 Cadet cabins with shower/WC
*** 4 Petty Officer cabins with shower/WC
*** 12 Crew cabins with shower/WC
4 Spare crew cabins with shower/WC
1 Suez Canal cabin with four(4) berths (two 2-tier berth) and
shower/WC

Public spaces to include an officers mess, officers lounge, officers TV room,


crews mess, crews lounge, crews TV room and a duty mess room.

A hospital with two single beds and bathtub/shower/WC to be provided.

Galley/pantry(refer to section 3.1.15), and gymnasium(refer to section 3.1.11)


to be provided.

Public toilets, cleaning gear lockers and night pantries to be arranged as


shown on the Accommodation Layout.

Ship’s laundry, officers’ laundry and crews’ laundry to be arranged


within the accommodation. (refer to section 3.1.14 and section 3.5)

To minimize the transmission of vibration, the engine casing not to be


integrated into the accommodation deckhouse.

A central control room(CCR) to be provided within the accommodation house


at C-deck level. Central office to be provided adjacent to the CCR. (refer to
section 3.5).

A six(6) person lift to be fitted to serve all levels in the accommodation below
the navigation bridge deck and the lowest practical level(4th deck level) in
engine room.

Bar type anti-pirate lock similar to NYK standard to be provided for the
stainless steel doors where direct entrance to accommodation at B, C
and D-deck.

Pentagon type door locks similar to NYK standard to be provided for the
steel doors where direct entrance to steering gear room at sunken deck,
to upper deck and A-deck level of accommodation space, and engine
casing from upper deck.

Bolt type anti-pirate lock to be provided for CO2 room, paint store, deck
store and other stores near engine casing, and Bosun store room
forward.

The inclined ladder from D-deck to the navigation bridge deck to be of


hinged type with manual winch.

3.1.1 LAY-OUT

The living quarters such as living space, public space, office space,
navigation & control space, corridor space, sanitary space, catering space,
provisions space and sundry space to be arranged in the aft deckhouse.

3.1.2 CLEAR HEIGHT

The clear height in the living quarters to be about 2200 mm, but sanitary
space and catering space may be about 2100 mm from the top of floor
covering to the bottom of overhead deck or ceiling. However, the protruding
part such as ceiling lamp, ventilating louver and unavoidable corner bracket,
etc. to be excluded from the measurement.

3.1.4 INSULATION

The insulation material and construction to be in accordance with the relevant


Rule and Regulation.

Approximate bulk density of insulation material to be as follows :

Mineral wool abt. 80 kg/m3 for heat and sound insulation


abt. 110 kg/m3 for fire insulation

*** In case of E/R, glass wool abt. 24 kg/m3 for thermal & sound insulation,
abt. 110 kg/m3 for hull tank insulation, abt. 110 kg/m3 for fire insulation.

Mineral wool to be secured with pin and washer.

OVERHEAD AND SIDE HEAT INSULATION

The portion of compartment in accommodation space facing weather exposed


part to be insulated in accordance with the following table.

As for the space partially exposed, the insulation to be extended to 300 mm


inside beyond the boundary as far as practical.

Following abbreviation to be used.

MW : Mineral Wool with glass cloth and aluminium foil


GS : Galvanized Steel sheet (0.5 mm thick)

Note : Beam and girder above 300 mm in depth to be insulated by 300 mm


and remaining parts to be left bare.

Silicate board (50 mm thick) will be provided in the living space, public space
or dry provision store, if the space is directly contacted with heated fuel oil
tanks in engine room.

SOUND INSULATION

Sound insulation (50mm thick mineral wool) to be provided in air conditioning


unit room facing to living and public space directly.

FIRE INSULATION

Fire insulation to be provided according to the Rule and Regulation.

Fire insulation in engine room to be covered with glass cloth with aluminium
foil as oil vapour barrier.

3.1.5 PARTITION, CEILING, LINING

Material and installation to be in compliance with the Rule and Regulation.

Bottom of joiner bulkhead to be set in welded steel profile on deck.

Watertight coaming to be made by the bottom profile behind lining in way of


wet space and exterior steel boundary bulkhead.

Wall panel to be jointed and installed in accordance with the maker's


standard.

Other detail of securing and construction of the bottom profile, top profile,
skirting, etc. to be in accordance with the Builder's normal practice, unless
otherwise required by the Rule and Regulation.

The Builder to provide color samples for the Buyer's selection of panel
finishing.

PARTITION BULKHEAD

The material and thickness of partition to be as follows :

Corridor bulkhead (B-class) 50 mm thick rock wool with 0.6 mm


galvanized steel sheets and finished with
decorative PVC film on both sides

3.1.6 DOOR AND FITTINGS

The door to be insulated where fire insulation applied in the wall to which the
door is fitted.

The door catcher or door hook to be provided to all doors other than those
with self-closing device.

Rain shade to be provided to the door facing to the weather without having
overhanging deck above.

Sill height to be in accordance with the relevant Rule and Regulation and to
be provided with stainless steel top.

Step of checkered steel plate about 6mm thickness to be provided to the


entrance from the weather side on upper deck.

Top of weather door to be about 1900 mm high above the surface of the deck
covering.

Joiner door to have clear head height of 2000 mm from top of deck covering
to top of door opening except the refrigerating chamber, catering space and
sanitary space.

The clear width of the door to have minimum 700 mm opening except for the
lavatory door which to be 600 mm.

Door self-closing device to be applied as follows:

3.1.7 WINDOW AND SIDE SCUTTLE

Spray fresh water pipe connected to domestic fresh water line to be led over
the wheelhouse front window for washing.
Hot water also to be led over the wheelhouse front window.

Steel platform of about 600 mm wide to be arranged in way of front window of


wheelhouse to facilitate cleaning of the window as shown on the
Accommodation Layout Plan.

Baked polyester coated steel window boxes to be provided for all windows
and side scuttles except for the wheelhouse window.

Laminated hard plastic finished window boxes to be provided for the


wheelhouse window.

Windows and side scuttles in the deckhouse front and in a range of 3 m of


such deckhouse front to be of A-60 class approved type.

Windows in the deckhouse front and in a range of 5 m of such deckhouse


front to be of fixed type.

The quantity of windows and side scuttles for cabins and rooms to be
provided according to following standard.

WINDOW
All rectangular windows of steel frame to be provided for A deck and above,
wheelhouse and engine control room.
Sun screens of roller type to be provided for all windows in wheel
house.
★ Eleven(11) window wipers of straight type to be provided for the
wheelhouse front windows. (EDGE parking type of window wiper to be
applied for the enter window)
Each one open type window to be provided in wheelhouse wing
side(both side) for overlooking the ship side, if not any problem
according to Rule/Regulation.

SIDE SCUTTLE

3.1.8 DECK COVERING

All weather deck surface to have no deck covering.

The deck covering for the accommodation on the upper deck level, basically
no levelling work to be made for providing horizontal plane to the cambered
deck part, except for office or public space which require horizontal plane
floor.

PVC skirting to be provided for to boundary wall except sanitary and catering
space.

3.1.9 STAIRWAY, STEP, RAILING, ETC.

The steel interior stairway in accommodation to be fitted as following :

above the deck according to the Builder's practice.

3.1.10 ELEVATOR

One(1) set of electric driven crew elevator of 6 person/500 kg capacity to be


provided.

The speed of elevator to be about 60m/min.

The elevator to be built in closed steel trunk and run from below Navigation
bridge deck to the lowest practical level(4th deck) in engine room and to
have stops at every deck.

Machinery space to be provided in engine room.

The operation of the elevator to be of selective-collective control system with


push button provided inside cage and on each station and indication of
position and direction of elevator at each station.

The cage door to be automatically operated double leaf sliding type and
outside doors to be of manual swing type.

Provision to be made for the lift to be operated on emergency power.

Alarm, lighting and escape possibility to be provided.

The elevator to be suitable for shipboard use and to comply as far as


reasonable with Classification of Society recommendation.

On top of elevator trunk 600mm x 600mm hatch openable from both sides to
be provided for emergency escape.

3.1.11 FURNITURE AND FITTINGS OF LIVING, PUBLIC, OFFICE,


NAVIGATION AND CONTROL SPACE

GENERAL

The furniture and fittings to have rigid construction in harmony with


decorative treatment of the space and to be in accordance with the Builder's
practice.

Main furniture and fittings to be as described in detail and the size and
number of furniture may be changed slightly by the cabin arrangement.

In general, the furniture to be constructed of the plywood/chipboard and


covered with melamine film finish in visible part only. Where the solid wood
for leg or frame is adopted, the beech wood and maple to be applied.

Top of the reception table, mess table and desk to be finished with the
melamine plastic laminate.

The steel furniture to be of commercial stock with durable construction.

The size of steel furniture may be changed slightly to meet those of


commercial stock, irrespective of the description in the Specification.

The shape of furniture to be of standard type and the fixing arrangement of


furniture to the wall, deck and/or ceiling to be in accordance with the Builder's
practice.

The leg of table to be fitted to suit the function as per Builder's practice.

The color scheme book to be submitted to the Buyer for approval.

Open type book case for A4 size document to be min. 19m long in
wheelhouse, 5m long for each ECR/CCR/Ship's Office and 1m in
Hospital.
(total storage length is measured as one tier of bookshelf)
Letter case of A4 size to be provided at the outside entrance of each
cabin(except suez crew cabin) and A3 size for inside of W/H,CCR,ECR
and central office.
Door curtain and bed curtain : refer to page 3-26.

HARDWARE

The hardware to be of aluminum or chromium coated brass in general.

Lock and key to be fitted according to the general practice.

All door handles to be of lever type.

Hat and coat hook to be fitted where necessary.

Pad lock to be fitted to steel door exposed to weather.

Master Key system to be according to NYK standard.


(Buyer to inform the NYK standard key system at detailed design stage)

All keys in 3 sets to be provided with brass name tag.

Lock for door of public toilet and of hospital bathroom to be fitted with
occupation indicator.

Door hook or holder to be provided for door which to be kept open where
necessary.

Fastening device to be provided for loose chairs.

3.2 DOMESTIC SYSTEMS

Hot and cold fresh water to be supplied to all wash basins, showers, sinks,
wash throughs and washing machines – see Section 6.6.1.

A vacuum sewage collection system, supplied with fresh water, to include a


holding tank of at least 10 days capacity. The biological sewage treatment
plant of capacity sufficient for 60 persons.

A sludge and waste incinerator system to be installed as described in section


6.10.

3.3 HEATING VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM

3.3.1 GENERAL

The living quarters to be ventilated and air conditioned as follows:


A) The following spaces to be air conditioned.
Living space
Public space
Office space
Electric equipment room
B) Catering space, gymnasium, wheelhouse & chart space, change room,
bonded store and dry provisions store to be conditioned by spot cooling
and heating without consideration of temperature and relative humidity.
Air in main air conditioned space, except hospital, to be exhausted into the
passage through the door louvre and into the appropriate private sanitary
space, if applicable, through the door gap. The recirculation air to be taken
from the passage and led to the air handling unit.
Air from hospital/dispensary, sanitary spaces, galley, pantries and stores not
to be recirculated.
Air conditioning systems to be provided for main switchboard room, engine
workshop, engine control room, central control room and electric equipment
room and cargo switchboard rooms as follows :

A) The electric equipment room, CCR, cargo switchboard rooms and


central office to be supplied by 2 x 100% auxiliary air conditioning units.
The design of the system to take into account the heat emission and
cooling requirements of the electrical equipment fitted in these spaces.

B) Engine control room and main switchboard rooms to be supplied by 2 x


100% independent air conditioning units. This unit to be capable of
maintaining 27oC at 50% relative humidity when outside air is 35 oC at
80% R.H. and the engine room itself at 45 oC.
Heating to be provided to maintain 22 oC in these spaces when outside
air temperature of -15oC.

C) Workshop in engine room to be air conditioned by an packaged air


conditioning unit(abt 54,000 kcal/h capacity).

Electric heating is also to be provided for the following rooms for spot
heating:
- Each drying rooms for laundries : 2kW x 1 set (refer to section 3.1.14)
- Emergency generator room : 7 kW x 1 set
- Steering gear room : 7kW x 2 sets (#)
- Bosun store : 7 kW x 2 sets (#)
- Thruster room : 7 kW (#)

3.3.1.2 AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM


The air conditioning system to be of high pressure type and single duct
system with central heating and cooling unit.
The plant to be designed to cool or heat the supply air and to maintain the
following condition when the doors, windows and side scuttles are closed.
Rate of fresh air to supply air may be changed if so required to meet the fresh
air rate requirement of the Regulatory Body of ship's registry.

3.3.1.3 TEST AND TRIAL

The central unit to be tested at the maker's shop in accordance with the
maker's usual practice.

After the completion of air conditioning system, following tests to be


performed in accordance with Builder's practice.

1. Air volume test


2. Cooling or heating test

The air conditioning test to be carried out as applicable in connection with


testing season. When the heating or cooling is not applicable, only the
running test to be performed.

3.3.2 MAIN AND AUXILIARY AIR CONDITIONING PLANT

The main and auxiliary air conditioning systems, each system to be consisted
of two 100%, centrally located cross-connected units each incorporating one
100% refrigeration compressor and one 100% air handling unit.

In extreme conditions of 45oC at 80% relative humidity the two(2) units of


each system to be capable of operating together to produce the required
internal conditions

The material and design to be as per the maker's standard unless otherwise
specified.

3.3.2.1 AIR HANDLING UNIT

The unit to consist of the following: -

3.3.2.4 DUCTING SYSTEM

Fresh air for air handling units to be drawn through the air supply head and to
be led to air handling units.

Recirculation air for the central unit to be drawn through the grille provided on
the wall or ceiling of the corridor space and to be led to the central unit.

Air conditioning supply ducts to be pre-insulated spiral duct made of


galvanized steel sheet.

Controllable diffuser to be fitted at outlet of the air conditioning supply duct in


air conditioned space and punkah louver in other space.

Trunk and duct exposed to weather deck to be 6 mm thickness and to be


weathertight.

3.3.2.5 TEMPERATURE CONTROL SYSTEM

In summer :

(1) The refrigerant gas for air cooling to be controlled to maintain a


reasonable constant temperature of discharge side by means of
unloading mechanism of the refrigerating compressor.

(2) When the ambient temperature becomes lower than condition (1) the
compressor to be stopped automatically and restarted automatically
when the temperature is higher than condition (1), by the electro-
magnetic valve and thermostat, having thermobulb located in return air
duct.

In winter :

Regulating steam valve on the steam air-heating coil to be controlled by the


thermobulb located in the duct of fresh air inlet and heater outlet.

Automatic humidity control to be provided.

In intermediate season :

Air to be supplied without cooling or heating from air conditioning plant.

NATURAL VENTILATION

Spaces which are not air conditioned or mechanically ventilated, to be


provided with natural ventilators such as mushroom ventilator, wall ventilator
or door louver, where necessary.

Ventilating louver with shutter may be provided on the door leading to the
passage from the living space, public space (except hospital) and office
space.

Coaming height of ventilator to be as rule requirement for the upper deck, A


deck and to be as the Builder's practice for the other decks.

Stainless steel wire mesh screen to be provided at weather opening of the


supply and exhaust ventilation duct.

3.3.4 VENTILATION SYSTEM EXCEPT ACCOMMODATION

3.3.4.1 GENERAL

This section describes the details of ventilation system mainly for the steering
gear room, stores and other areas except for the cargo tanks, living quarters
and machinery space which are described separately in the Hull Piping
Section, Accommodation Section and Machinery Section, respectively.

Gooseneck, mushroom or wall louver type ventilators to be provided as


ventilation heads on the weather deck.

The ventilators to be of fabricated mild steel plate with sufficient cross


sectional area and to be weathertight. The coaming height to be decided in
accordance with the requirement of Rules and Regulations concerned.

The size and type of ventilators to be determined according to the Builder's


standard and the requirements of Rules and Regulation concerned.

If the height of coaming exceed 900 mm, bracket may be fitted on the
coaming of mushroom vent.

Name and direction of open/close shall be marked on the top of


Mushroom type ventilators

Edge of ventilator shall be painted with different color according to the


NYK standard. (About 150mm width)

3.3.4.2 VENTILATION DUCT

The trunk and duct to be of rectangular type. The thickness of duct to be of


2.3 mm.

2.3mm plate to be painted steel plate. Burnt part to be touch-up by zinc rich
paint.

The duct to be well arranged to minimize the pressure drop.

3.3.4.3 MECHANICAL VENTILATION

The mechanical ventilation system to be designed and installed in


accordance with the requirement of the Classification Society and Regulatory
Bodies concerned.

Each space to be provided with either supply or exhaust fan(s) with/without


duct system depending upon the characteristics of the compartment.

The number of fans and group or independent duct system, etc. to be


decided considering the arrangement in each compartment and size of
ventilators.

The capacity of ventilating fans to be based on the following air change rate
for empty space listed below neglecting deduction made by equipment and
other furnishings.

3.3.4.4 NATURAL VENTILATION

Other space than mechanically ventilated space included in section 3.3.5.3 to


be naturally ventilated with suitable ventilators.

The location of ventilators to be carefully decided to ensure satisfactory


ventilation.

3.3.4.5 VENTILATION FAN

Marine use axial flow type fans of which the impeller and electric motors are
incorporated in the fan casing, to be provided.

The impeller of fan to be dynamically balanced.

The fans to be mounted on the coaming with mushroom ventilator.

All external ventilators to be correctly and clearly identified with a name plate
showing the service area.

The capacity and static pressure of fan(s) to be sufficient to cover the


specified air change rate of respective compartment.

High room temperature alarms in the IAS and personnel trap alarms near
chief steward room and wheelhouse to be provided.
One refrigerating unit to have capacity enough to maintain the specified
temperature within 18 hours running per day after cooling down while the
other unit to serve as stand-by.

3.4.1.1 REFRIGERATING SYSTEM

The cooling system to be of R-404A direct expansion and air circulating


system with automatic control device and to be able to keep the temperature
of the refrigerating chamber as specified in this Specification.

The electrical defrost system with timer to be provided for the meat and fish
room.

Hot gas defrost system to be also provided

The material and design to be as per the maker's standard unless otherwise
specified.

Cooling down test for refrigerated provision chamber to be carried out after
