Group Discussion & Personal Interview Guideline PGDM 2024-26

Group discussion is one of the important assessment in selection process of candidate


admissions for post graduate in management. It assesses the behavioural traits in a person his
or her leadership skills, social skills, team skills, problem solving skills and presence of mind,
how candidates can expresses opinion & view point at the same time defends his/her view
,how candidate handle difference of opinion .The intention behind facilitating a group
discussion is to evaluate every candidate, check their persuasive skills, knowledge of the
related subject, communication skills and most importantly their capability to structure
arguments through logic, reason and factual information.
Candidate can expect any topic when you are appearing for a group discussion. It is always
tricky and surprising but most of these ideas relate to current affairs, general knowledge,
business & economy topics, global politics, great personalities, prevalent ideas and social
issues and sometimes can be abstract topics, amongst others.

Generic tips
On the day of GD, dress in formal clothes
Be confident & positive body language
Talk sense. Avoid superficial talk
Speak loudly and clearly
Accommodate diverse viewpoints.
Do not be distracted. Your concentration should be solely on the discussion
Do not get excited or aggressive during the discussion. Try to maintain a balanced tone
through out
Ensure that you contribute throughout the discussion
Read as much as possible. Have good and sound knowledge on numerous topics. Watching
documentaries on various topics will help here

Last but not the least, mentally visualize yourself as succeeding and you will succeed. Best of
