History of Guyana
It is estimated that human presence in the remote region was around 20.000 years
ago, and the territory was dominated by two indigenous peoples, Arawaks and
Caribbeans.

The occupation of Guyana only began by the Dutch in the second half of the 16th
century. At first, the Dutch presence took place through trading posts on the coast
of Guyana

Typical dishes: pepperpot,

Pepperpot
Made with a portion of meat, the dish is strongly flavored with
cinnamon and pepper. When preparing it, the meat must be cooked and
heated with vegetable cooking oil. After salting and frying, the portion
must receive the addition of onion and vegetables, usually spinach,
eggplant and okra.
