BLIZZARD PULSE JET BAGHOUSES
At our company, we refer to PJB (pulse jet baghouses) or PJFB (pulse jet frame baghouses) as “Blizzard”
filters.
Blizzard Pulse jet baghouses from Torch-Air Сompany are classical baghouses for cleaning air and gases
of contamination. Blizzard filters have earned themselves a good reputation as reliable and hassle-free
machines.
What the jet pulse baghouse (with an air blast cleaning system) entails and how it works
Contaminated air enters the Blizzard inlet via an air duct (or gas duct) into the dirty chamber, after
which dust particles settle down onto the air bags while the cleaned air continues along the bags and
enters into the clean chamber, then exiting the baghouse to the outside or being directed back into
the facility with the help of a fan.

GENERAL GAS
MOVEMENT
SCHEME IN
AND OUT OF
THE BLIZZARD
BAGHOUSE
The explanation
begins with arrow
in the left and then
it makes its way to
the upper right.
Dirty air from your facility or machine enters the dirty air chamber and, depending on the modifications
of the filter, a special damper plate,
shutter dampers, or an intertial inlet
are installed, which halt coarse dust
and send it right down into a dust
hopper. After that, the dirty air passes
down the bags, dust particles settle
down onto the bags, while the clean air
passes on into the clean air chamber and is sent outside from the
Blizzard machine or back into the factory.
Flat vertical bags are used in COMPACT baghouses. Thanks to their shape, these baghouses allow for a
larger number of bags to be fit inside and thus the machine works at a higher efficiency than in the case
that round bags are used. Flat bags ensure an even cleaned gas supply at a low speed, which in turn
reduces the wear on the bags. The gas drafts are distributed evenly along the bag rows (comprised by
the flat bags) and flow along the entire length of the bags.
4
The pulse cleaning process of the bags is quite soft since the length of these bags is only 3 meters and
cleaning is performed evenly over the entire surface area of the bags. This effect results from the fact
that the flat bags have a smaller diameter and at the same time a single bag has a larger quantity of
openings that the air blows through.
Round filter elements have been used for decades. There are many types of these filter elements,
coming in all varieties, kinds, and diameters. Up to a length of 4-5 meters, no Venturi tube is required.
Instead, atomizers are used for jet blasting. As for lengths of over 5 meters, we recommend using
different nozzles for more effective cleaning of the filter elements.
5
PULSE JET CLEANING SYSTEM
This system features:
3. Air tube system: This system is pretty self-explanatory. They tubes come in either metal or plastic.
That will depend on the gas and temperature that the Blizzard bag filter is cleaning. Furthermore,
nozzles are installed on the pulse jet tubes to ensure more efficient cleaning of the filter element.
4. The regeneration system is managed using a special controller that configures the quantity of pulses
and how frequently they are released.
5. Upon request, we can also install a differential pressure gage. In that case, not only can bag cleaning
be programmed in terms of the time but also in terms of the degree of the bags’ contamination. When
bags fall, the pressure in the filter chamber changes and the gage submits a signal to the controller for
cleaning to be performed. The differential pressure gage will also display an accident if one of the bags
gets ruined.
6
CONTAMINATED AIR INLET
To ensure that most of the contaminated substances fall straight down into the dust collector bin,
various dust separation methods are used, such as: contaminants’ entry via a side gas inlet, via a dust
chamber with a damper plate, or an inlet into the space underneath the bag with a shutter damper.
These methods are used to send the majority of contaminants down into the dust collector bin and
facilitate the operation of the filter elements.
7
We also make hoppers and supports depending on the needs of your industrial site. For instance, for
our wood processing client, we packaged a hopper that could be discharged into big bags.
Manual method: when the manual flow shutter is used, upon manually opening it, the dust discharges
from the dust collector bin into another space or when a space (box) is connected to the dust collector
that the dust falls into without a flow shutter.
Automated method: when a rotary valve or a double dump, often along with a worm transporter, is
used to discharge the dust.
The difference between the manual and the automatic methods is the physical labor that must be
performed to discharge the captured debris. The automated method can be connected to a production
chain and, for instance, the debris can be placed back onto a conveyor belt.
FILTER MANAGEMENT
Filter management is done
using a controller or remote-
control device. This system
operates in a closed cycle but
can be reconfigured
depending on the client's
needs. We propose packaging
the baghouse fully with an
automatic control, analysis, fire extinguishing system, among other automatic features. A time
8
controller is installed in the standard package and we can also package a standard Siemens, OVEN, etc.
controller depending on your needs.
4. Filter cartridges designed for certain small types of dust, high temperatures (over 200 degrees
Celsius), sticky debris, wet debris, etc.
5. Heart insulation for the filter as well as individual segments of it and supplying heating to the valves.
6. We can swap the jet pulse filter for a reverse bag blowing filter for use in locations where operating
a compressor is not possible.
8. Packaging a smooth launch device (frequency transformer) for a fan, worm, and rotary valve.
9. A special control cabinet based on your needs built at the base of the relay with a control,
connection, and management module. The control cabinet produced based on your technical task
provides: collection of data from the dust transmitters, pressure changes, and equipment condition
(fan, worm, feeder). Alarms on the machine’s operating condition, accidents, and technological
blockages; emergency stops; and device deactivation from the fire alarm signal as well.
SPECIFICATIONS
Aerodynamic resistance: 2,000 Pascals
9
Operation temperature range: from 150 to 300 degrees Celsius, depending on the filter bag materials
Dust concentration at flat bag machine inlet: up to 80 grams per cubic meter of gas
Dust concentration at round bag machine inlet: up to 150 grams per cubic meter of gas
Dust concentration at round bag machine outlet: up to 5 milligrams per cubic meter of gas
Compressed air consumption to clean the filter bags depends on the type of baghouse and the level of
incoming dust. The larger the baghouse and the greater the level of dust, the higher the consumption

BLIZZARD SHAKER BAGHOUSES
What does a bag house with shaker filter bag cleaning entail and how does it work? Contaminated air
enters Burn via an air duct (or gas duct), arriving in the chamber. The clean air passes through the filter
bag and is ejected outside the baghouse while the dust settles on the inner side of the filter bags.
What’s interesting about the Blizzard Shakers is that they work with practically any level of dust while
using a high-quality, well-thought-out design, which enables compact stationing while the progressive,
advanced filtering materials allow the air to be cleaned up to 99.9%.
The inner side of the bag gradually becomes filled with dust which
subsequently needs to be discarded down into the hopper. That's
when the shaker is powered on, which shakes the beam which the
bags lie against and thus it shakes the bags along with it. The shaking
causes the dust to fall down into the hopper (denotation for this type
of baghouse is P: pressurized).
In this system, now a dust type fan is used which thrusts gas inside the
baghouse. In all other aspects, this baghouse's mode of operation is identical to that of the previous
one.
25
HOW THE CLEANING IS DONE
The shaker engine shakes the beam to which the filter
bags are attached. During the shaking process, the dust
settled on the filter bag is discarded down into a collector
bag, a box, or a hopper.
