From this project, I learned that cyberbullying could
have grave side effects. When, I used to play video games, even I faced cyberbullying, but I ignored it as an irrelevant issue. But after this project, I learned how badly can it impact a person- mentally. Which can lead to many people attempting suicide, feeling depressed, etc.
Before this research, I thought God of War had the most
toxic community as I play it. I thought I had all the information in the world about cyberbullying. However, after this project, I discovered games like BGMI, and Call of Duty have way more toxic communities than I thought. Which thus served as a humbling for me. Action After confirming the validity of the research, Me and Khushwant made questions for an interview with a technical expert. However, our expert- Ms. Nidhi Dhawan, was not available for our interview before our deadline.
Meanwhile, to check if cyberbullying is prevalent in our
school or not. Rihan and Anushka made questions for a survey to be conducted in IGCSE and Stage 9, a group of 13 and 14-year-olds in our target age group for the research. Me, Khushwant, Rihan and Anushka conducted the surveys in the respective classes and noted the results, accordingly.
After conducting the survey, we received a positive response
which indicated that cyberbullying is prevalent in our school. However, the students had very little information about cyberbullying, hence we decided to conduct a session to spread awareness and provide tips to deal with it.
We conducted a session on cyberbullying with IGCSE and
Stage 9. Before the session, Khushwant had to pay a visit to the counsellor to take inputs and ideas for the session, but unfortunately, she was not available before the session, so we did a literature review online. To prepare for the session Rishi and Khushwant made the slideshow for the session. I made the flyer for the interview which will be handed out to them after the session, so they remember the takes from the session. Rishi and Khushwant researched the effects of cyberbullying to provide data for the ppt.
During the session, the classes were attentive, which meant
we were confident, and we had relevant material. After the session, students approached me and asked us doubts which were answered by me, showing that I had researched well enough.
I did a lot of research. Firstly, I did some initial research on
the Government of India’s website to check if our research question is valid or not. Then, I researched the side effects of cyberbullying which was required for the brochure and the presentation. I researched a lot of information for the same, but it meant that I had all of the information for the brochure, and Me and Rihan got information for the ppt. Anushka conducted an interview with her friend's mom, who's a journalist, to get the viewpoint of the expert and give us an idea about the solutions.
