Year 12 Chemistry Assessment Information

When? In your chemistry lesson time: Tuesday 30th January P1 and 2.

Note: you will not be given revision time in the lessons.

Key information: you will have one 90 minute assessment. This will be composed of
written answers/calculations with questions ranging from 1 to 6 marks. A multiple-choice
section will also be included which will count for around 20% of the marks.

You will be assessed on content that you have covered so far (to include the associated
required practicals). The topics which will be in this assessment are:

• 3.1.1 – Atomic Structure

• 3.1.2 – Amount of Substance (including RP1)
• 3.1.3 – Bonding
• 3.1.5 – Kinetics (including RP3)
• 3.3.1 – Introduction to Organic Chemistry
• 3.3.2 - Alkanes

*Note: the numbers are the specification points which I would recommend you refer to in
order to ensure that you are revising all of the necessary information.

Revision Resources:

You should spend around a third of your revision time taking notes, e.g. in the form of
mind-maps, revision cards, etc. and the remaining time should be spent completing PAST-
PAPER QUESTION PRACTICE.

Here is a reminder of some useful resources to support you in your revision:

• Online Kerboodle textbook – if you are unsure of how to gain access then come
and see me so I can get you logged into this resource.

• CGP revision guide and workbook – if you haven’t got these already then I would
strongly recommend purchasing these resources.

• ‘Physics and Maths Tutor’ is an excellent free website which has lots of past-paper
question practice, notes and much more for each topic for each science.

• Youtube: ‘Eliot Rintoul’ is particularly good as he tailors his videos specifically to our
exam board (AQA).
