ADDRESS OF THE CHAPLAIN OF KADUNA ARCHDIOCESAN PURGATORIAN SOCIETY AT THE PROVINCIAL

MEETING OF PURGATORIAN SOCIETY IN KADUNA AT ST PETER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, SABON TASHA

KADUNA ON SATURDAY 14TH MAY, 2022.

I bring you greetings dearest fellow Purgatorians. On behalf of the Archbishop of Kaduna, the most Rev
Matthew Man'Oso Ndagoso, I welcome you to Kaduna for the Provincial Meeting of the Purgatorian
Society. Remembering the words of Pope St. John XXIII "The devotion to the memory of the dead is one
of the most beautiful expressions of the Catholic Spirit". I tell you that your coming here as well as your
devotion is an expression of your faith and a commitment to God who rewards the good efforts of his
humble servants.

The dead needs our generous support. This support is a gift of Love to the dead. Therefore, anyone who
loves and loves truly, must measure such love with the person's desire to assist. When we talk of the
dead, we speak also of our memories of them (oftentimes loving memories) and we talk also of the
location of their souls. If we truly Love them, we will naturally find ourselves giving them the support
they need most; namely: Our Prayers. Therefore, we should all be Purgatorians.

I wish everyone is a Purgatorian, I wish all Christians are Purgatorians, I wish that at least every Catholic
is a Purgatorian; if wishes were horses they say. But I think "we" Purgatorians wish same thing. It is
difficult to achieve this wish, but it is not impossible to win as much Purgatorians as possible. Surely, We
can start somewhere. We can start constantly thinking well for and praying for the dead and teaching
people around us to do same. We can start by brainstorming at this very Provincial Meeting to proffer
ways of spreading this devotion both at Parish, Diocesan and National levels. This is why we are here.
This is our prayer. May God guide and direct our minds through the inspiration of his Holy Spirit through
Christ our Lord. Amen.

May the Souls of all the faithful departed, through the Mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

Fr Christian C. Nnanna

(Kaduna Archdiocesan Chaplain).
