concluded that there is no 'health drink' defined under FSS Act 2006, rules and regulations submitted by FSSAI and

India achieved a record addition of 18 GW in renewable energy capacity during FY24.

Nainital Forest Fire

RBI imposes Rs.60.3 lakh penalty on five co-operative banks


The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has levied penalties totaling Rs. 60.3 lakh on five co-operative banks for violating various
regulatory norms. Among these, Rajkot Nagarik Sahakari Bank faced a penalty of Rs. 43.30 lakh for non-compliance with RBI
directives related to 'ban on loans and advances to directors and their relatives, and firms/concerns in which they are
interested', 'prohibition on opening saving bank accounts in the names of certain bodies/organizations', and 'maintenance of
deposit accounts'. Furthermore, The Kangra Co-operative Bank (New Delhi), Rajdhani Nagar Sahkari Bank (Lucknow), and
Zila Sahakari Bank, Garhwal (Kotdwar, Uttarakhand) were each penalized Rs. 5 lakh by the central bank. Additionally, the
District Co-operative Bank (Dehradun) incurred a penalty of Rs. 2 lakh.

India’s outward FDI declined 39% to $28.64 billion in FY24


In the fiscal year ending March 2024, India's overseas direct investment (FDI) saw a significant decline of 39% to $28.64
billion, as per RBI data. This decline is notable compared to the $46.96 billion FDI recorded in the previous fiscal year. Out of
the total FDI, $9.62 billion was invested through the equity route, constituting about 34% of the total financial commitment
in FY2024. Additionally, loan commitments decreased from $7.73 billion to $5.24 billion in the same period.

Indian companies also issued overseas guarantees amounting to $14 billion in FY2024, lower than the $20.09 billion issued
in FY2023. It's noteworthy that the highest outward FDI in FY2024 was observed in March.

S&P Global Ratings: Banks may need to slow loan growth in FY25.
According to S&P Global Ratings, Indian banks are expected to maintain strong credit growth, profitability, and asset quality
in the current fiscal year due to robust economic growth. However, they may need to reduce their loan growth as deposit
growth, particularly in retail deposits, is not matching the pace. In the Asia-Pacific 2Q 2024 Banking Update, S&P Global
Ratings Director SSEA Nikita Anand stated that the sector's credit growth is anticipated to moderate to 14% in FY25 from
16% in FY24 if deposit growth remains sluggish
