Confessions is a Japanese film that explores vengeance, revenge.

It's based off a

Japanese novel the movie displays a cold narrative thats around a teachers planned
revenge against students she thinks are responsible for her daughters death. The
narrative often shifts between various and different perspectives including those
of the students, adding more complexity to the story, the film displays a dark look
at the consequences of an action, not only on themselves, but on their families and
society.
The students involved, Shuya is portrayed as a sociopath with a troubled past and
family and explored throughout the movie, his lack of empathy and understanding on
how bad his actions are is quite chilling, Naoki, another student involved,
opposite to Shuya is driven to madness and despair because of his guilt.
The film also dives into the lives of students that highlights the theme of
bullying, pressures of being a teenage and the failures of adults to guide and
protect the young people.
As the movie progresses, the viewers are left to wonder and decide for their selves
if the revenge was right, or unneeded and unnecessary.
The teachers revenge in the movie gets so bad to the point that she informs her own
class she infected the milk of the students responsible for her daughters death
with a disease which pettily wasn't true, but gave fear and anxiety enough to the
students, especially to two who were responsible.
The teacher, Yuko, is displayed with a chilling coldness and calmness about her and
her calculated and planned actions, but under that is the anger and grief that
burns inside her.
Basically the themes are cold, heavy, and thought about alot that explores the
consequences of actions and justice and challenges watchers to think about the
actions of revenge and if minors are "rightfully" protected by laws and highlights
the cruelty that can rise from a youth, it is a cinematic favorite by alot of
people and captures the emotional feelings of tragedy, revenge and anxiety/guilt
very well, reflecting the pain, rage, and anger of a loss.
