Without the greenhouse effect the mean temperature on Earth would be -
18°C and there would be very little or no life. So the greenhouse effect itself
is a good thing. The greenhouse effect traps some of the energy from the
Sun, which keeps our planet at a suitable temperature for life.

The problem is that our increased release of greenhouse gases is causing an

increase in the greenhouse effect called the enhanced greenhouse effect.
This is leading to global warming.

Use Less Heat and Air Conditioning.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

What is the water cycle?

The continuous movement of water as it makes a circuit from the oceans to the atmosphere to
the Earth and on again.

The water cycle is powered by ____ The sun, which drives the water cycle, heats water in
the oceans. Some of it evaporates as vapor into the air. Rising vapor cools and condenses into
clouds.
_________________________.

The water cycle has 4 processes

Evaporation the process by which water changes from a
liquid to a gas or vapor.

Transpiration The release of water from plant leaves

Condensation the process by which water vapor in the air is

changed into liquid water.

Precipitation Precipitation is water released from clouds in

the form of rain

Match the key words to their meanings.

Infiltration This water is held in the rock underground
Surface runoff When water soaks down through the ground
Through flow Flow of water though the soil
EGroundwater Rainwater flowing over the grounds surface

Evaporation
Transpiration

Precipitation

When deforestation occurs, rain is lost from the area, flowing away as
river water and causing permanent drying.

It will decrease the amount of transpiration. It will also increase the amount
of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by releasing the carbon dioxide as
trees are burned and by decreasing photosynthesis.
