ABSTRACT

The Jogulamba Temple in Alampur, Telangana, holds significant historical and


cultural importance due to its connections with the Chalukya dynasty. This
study aims to examine and celebrate the temple's architectural, artistic, and
religious influences, shedding light on the enduring impact of the Chalukyan
era. By exploring the Chalukyas' support of art, architecture, and religion, we
can appreciate the temple as a living testament to this rich heritage. This
research emphasizes the temple's role as a symbol of historical continuity and

PURPOSE OF STUDY

The purpose of this study is to investigate the historical connections between


the Jogulamba Temple in Alampur, Telangana, and the Chalukya dynasty. This
research aims to:

1. Examine the architectural features of the Jogulamba Temple and their


alignment with Chalukyan architectural styles.
2. Explore the cultural and religious significance of the temple within the
context of the Chalukya dynasty’s patronage.
3. Analyse historical records and inscriptions to trace the temple’s origins
and evolution during the Chalukyan period.
4. Highlight the role of the Chalukya dynasty in fostering religious and
architectural developments in the Deccan region.
5. Understand the temple’s impact on the perpetuation of Hindu traditions
and its significance in the spiritual landscape of South India.

By achieving these objectives, the study seeks to provide a comprehensive

The Jogulamba Temple, located in Alampur, Telangana, is one of the eighteen


Maha Shakti Peethas, holding profound religious and cultural significance in
Hindu tradition. The temple is renowned not only for its spiritual importance
but also for its architectural grandeur, which bears the unmistakable imprint of
the Chalukya dynasty. The Chalukyas, who ruled large parts of southern and
central India between the 6th and 12th centuries, were distinguished patrons
of art, architecture, and religion. Their reign marked a period of significant
cultural and architectural achievements that left a lasting legacy on the Deccan
region.

This report seeks to delve into the historical connections between the
Jogulamba Temple and the Chalukya dynasty, exploring how the temple's
