Isaiah 8:11-13 (Amp)

11 For the Lord spoke thus to me with His strong hand [upon me], and warned and instructed me not to walk in the way of
this people, saying,
12 Do not call conspiracy [or hard, or holy] all that this people will call conspiracy [or hard, or holy]; neither be in
fear of what they fear, nor [make others afraid and] in dread.
13 The Lord of hosts--regard Him as holy and honor His holy name [by regarding Him as your only hope of
safety], and let Him be your fear and let Him be your dread [lest you offend Him by your fear of man and distrust of Him].

Psalms 64
1 HEAR MY voice, O God, in my complaint; guard and preserve my life from the terror of the enemy.
2 Hide me from the secret counsel and conspiracy of the ungodly, from the scheming of evildoers,
3 Who whet their tongues like a sword, who aim venomous words like arrows,
4 Who shoot from ambush at the blameless man; suddenly do they shoot at him, without self-reproach or fear.
5 They encourage themselves in an evil purpose, they talk of laying snares secretly; they say, Who will discover us ?
6 They think out acts of injustice and say, We have accomplished a well-devised thing! For the inward thought of each one
[is unsearchable] and his heart is deep.
7 But God will shoot an unexpected arrow at them; and suddenly shall they be wounded.
8 And they will be made to stumble, their own tongues turning against them; all who gaze upon them will shake
their heads and flee away.
9 And all men shall [reverently] fear and be in awe; and they will declare the work of God, for they will wisely
consider and acknowledge that it is His doing.
10 The [uncompromisingly] righteous shall be glad in the Lord and shall trust and take refuge in Him; and all the
upright in heart shall glory and offer praise.

Act 17:26 And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined
their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings,
Act 17:27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far
from each one of us;
Act 17:28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His
offspring.'

 Our God is a God of faith.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is
a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Without – choris - to be outside of something, such as someone who lives outside the perimeters of a city.
Impossible – adunatos – lack the capability/ ability – incapable, weak, impotent
Please – euarestesa - (eu and arestos. eu - well, as in something that is well. arestos - enjoyable or pleasing) the pleasure one
feels from seeing something that is especially excellent or delightful.

Hebrews 11:6 “Outside of the realm of faith, you are incapable / weaken / impotent to bring delight and pleasure to God.
…”

Rom 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Whatsoever – pas – all

Sin – hamartia - to sin, offence, missing the true end and scope of our lives, which is God. An offense in relation to God with
emphasis on guilt.

Hab 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Gal 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Heb 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

2Co 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

1
Set affections on Things above

Eph 1:19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty
power
Eph 1:20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly
places,
Eph 1:21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also
in that which is to come.
Eph 1:22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,
Eph 1:23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
Eph 2:5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
Eph 2:6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

Col 3:1 IF THEN you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and
seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Col 3:2 And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.
Col 3:3 For [as far as this world is concerned] you have died, and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.
Col 3:4 When Christ, Who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in [the splendor of His] glory.

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of
need.

Let scripture build the picture

The Throne in Heaven

Rev 4:1 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a
trumpet speaking with me, saying, "Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this."
Rev 4:2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne.
Rev 4:3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the
throne, in appearance like an emerald.
Rev 4:4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes;
and they had crowns of gold on their heads.
Rev 4:5 And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the
throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
Rev 4:6 Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were
four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back.
Rev 4:7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face
like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle.
Rev 4:8 The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or
night, saying: "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!"
Rev 4:9 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever,
Rev 4:10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast
their crowns before the throne, saying:
Rev 4:11 "You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will
they exist and were created."

Jasper – iaspis - a precious stone of various colors such as purple or green. It is an opaque, impure variety of silica, usually red,
yellow, brown or green in color; and rarely blue. The common red color is due to iron(III) inclusions. Jasper breaks with a smooth
surface and is used for ornamentation or as a gemstone. It can be highly polished and is used for items such as vases, seals,
and snuff boxes.

Sardius – sardinos - a precious stone of red color, so-named either because it was first discovered by the inhabitants of Sardis in
Asia Minor or from the island of Sardinia where the best quality was found.

Appearance – horasis- to gaze at, as in a vision

Rainbow – Iris – rainbow - After the flood, the rainbow was appointed by God as a sign to Noah and his descendants that God
would never again cut off all flesh nor destroy the earth by the waters of a flood.

Gen 9:13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
Gen 9:14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
Gen 9:15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the
waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
Gen 9:16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God
and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
Gen 9:17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh
that is upon the earth.

2
Around – kuklothen - round about, from all sides, all around, to encircle, surround

Emerald – smaragdinos - a gemstone and a variety of the mineral beryl colored green by trace amounts of chromium and
sometimes vanadium. Beryl has a hardness of 7.5–8 on the Mohs scale. Most emeralds are highly included, so their toughness is
classified as generally poor.

Elders - presbúteros; - an old man, an ambassador. Older, aged; as a subst. an elder, a senior, representative head of a city,
family, tribe or nation. Probably representatives of both the Old and New Testament Saints, and the Old Testament Saints are
represented by the Twelve Tribes of Israel, and the New Testament Saints' by the Twelve Apostles of the Lamb, they together
make up 24 representative characters

Rev 5:10 And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth."
Rev 19:4 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sat on the throne, saying,
"Amen! Alleluia!"

Proceeded - ekporeuomai; to make to go forth, to go forth: to depart, be discharged, proceed, project:

Isaiah 11:1-3
1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might,
the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes,
neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

There are seven distinct expressions of the one Holy Spirit:

1) Spirit of the Lord,
2) Spirit of Wisdom,
3) Spirit of Understanding,
4) Spirit of Counsel,
5) Spirit of Might (strength),
6) Spirit of Knowledge
7) The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord.

Just as God is one but has three distinct personhoods: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, so the Holy Spirit is One but with seven distinct
expressions.

Isaiah's Vision of the Lord

Isa 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the
temple.
Isa 6:2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and
with two he flew.
Isa 6:3 And one cried to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!"
Isa 6:4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.

 The measure of faith

Rom 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he
ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Dealt - merizō - mer-id'-zo - to bestow, share, distribute, divide, give part.

Measure – metron – a fixed measure

2Pe 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through
the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

3
Like precious – isotimos – of equal value or honor

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I
live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

2Co 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also
believe, and therefore speak;

1Jn 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this
world.

Rom 4:17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth
the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

Mar 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. (Have God’s faith)
Mar 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into
the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he
shall have whatsoever he saith.
Mar 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have
them.

Believers don’t have a faith problem. Problem is 2 fold:

1. Lack of knowledge of the word of God – lack of knowledge of His will.
2. Lack of knowledge of how God’s faith works.

Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Doubt – diakrinomai - to hesitate, to waver, to doubt, or to differ

In context, Jesus is saying that when a person’s heart doesn’t differ from what his mouth is saying, the combination of his heart and
mouth in agreement will always make things happen!

Creative power is released when the heart and mouth get into agreement!
In other words, your mouth may be saying all the right words, but your heart is not really in agreement. It’s just a mouthful of
correct, empty words. Until your heart and mouth get into agreement, you are not really asking in faith. So James told us that we
must ask with hearts that are in agreement with our mouths.

Jas 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Jas 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and
tossed.
Jas 1:7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
Jas 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Gen 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

 God cannot lie.

Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and
mightest overcome when thou art judged.

2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the
knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the
divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
