OBJECTIVES:

• Apply correct grammar in


making definitions.
Subject-Verb Agreement

Singular subjects need S-form of the


verb; plural subjects need base form of
the verb.
Rule No. 1

A singular subject must take a


singular verb. A plural subject must
take a plural verb.
Rule No. 2

A phrases or clause that comes


between the subject and the verb does
not affect the number of the subject.
