Syllabus
Tier I:
1. General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, Classifications, Coding-Decoding,
Puzzle, Matrix, Word Formation, Venn Diagram, Direction and Distance, Blood
Relations, Series, Non-verbal Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning.
2. General Awareness: History, Geography, Polity, Economics, Science, Current
Affairs, Static GK, Books and Authors, Important Dates, Sports, Awards and Honors.
3. Quantitative Aptitude: Number System, Percentage, Ratio and Proportion, Average,
Simplification, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Time & Work, Speed,
time & distance, Mensuration, Data Interpretation, Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry.
4. English Comprehension: Reading Comprehension, Fill in the blanks, Error Spotting,
Sentence Correction, Synonyms & Antonyms, Idioms & Phrases, One word
substitution, Spelling Errors, Phrase Replacement.
Tier II:
1. Section I – Quantitative Aptitude + Reasoning: Same as Tier I, but with higher
difficulty level.
2. Section II – English Language & Comprehension + GK: Same as Tier I, but with
higher difficulty level.
3. Section III – Statistics (for AAO and related posts): Collection and Representation of
Data, Measure of Dispersion, Probability, Correlation and Regression Analysis, Time
Series Analysis, Index Number.
4. Section IV – General Studies – Finance & Economics (for AAO and related posts):
Finance and Accounting, Fundamental Principles of Accounting, Financial
Accounting, Basic concepts of Economics and Introduction to Microeconomics and
Macroeconomics, Money and Banking.
Tier III:
Descriptive Paper (Essay/Letter/Application Writing)
Tier IV:
Computer Proficiency Test (as per the requirement of specific posts)
Exam Pattern
Note:
Tier I is only qualifying in nature.
Section IV of Tier II, i.e. CPT is also qualifying in nature.
Minimum 30% marks are required to qualify.
Cut-off will be based on Section I & II of Tier II exam.
Section III & IV of Tier II, i.e. Statistics, and Finance and Economics are very
important for AAO and other related posts.
Physical exam is there for some posts like SI in CBI, etc.
Preferable posts: AAO (Assistant Audit Officer), ASO (Assistant Section Officer), AEO
(Assistant Enforcement Officer), Income Tax Inspector, Excise Inspector, SI in CBI, etc.
