Introduction

“Dread is a game of horror and hope. Those who play will

participate in a mutual telling of an original macabre tale. The goal of
Dread is to sustain the delicate atmosphere that invokes the hand-
quivering emotion that lends its name to the game.
The thrill of a Dread game lies within the tension between desire
and loss. You will take on the role of people trapped in a story that is
only as compelling as it is hostile—people who will find themselves
making decisions we hope never to face in real life.”

Note: This particular one-shot will be equal parts humor and horror. I think
we’ve had enough of the grim dark of our 5e session.

Setting
It is October 22nd, 2018. You, along with an array of actors, musicians,
studio executives, and the like, have been invited to Jeff Goldblum’s extravagant
66th birthday party. The party is taking place in his remote mansion, in which the
classic Victorian Era exterior sharply contrasts the flamboyant and eccentric
interior. You have arrived, fashionably late, to a scene of excess and splendor.

Character
You are a celebrity of your choice, be it actor, musician, comedian,
politician, or otherwise. I ask that you choose someone real and still living, but will
make exceptions with a compelling case. Examples include:
-A Marilyn Monroe impersonator
- A fake R2 unit serving drinks.
Your character sheet, the questionnaire attached, is relatively straight forward. It
will helps generate personality, fears and aspirations, as well as skills and
weaknesses.

Although you are (likely) playing a real person, I ask you to answer the following
questionnaire in such a way that it creates a compelling character that you’ll want
to roleplay.

Once you have finished your character sheet, please send it to me. I will likely add
one or two more questions for you to answer.
Character Sheet

1. What is your characters name? Describe your celebrity status.

I am Rami Malek, currently in character 24/7 as Freddie Mercury for

an upcoming sequel/reboot of Bohemian Rhapsody. “More music, more gay,
less edits!” I have moved crowds more than anyone who has ever
commanded a stage. Musical talent is a difficult thing to define, but I am an
unrivaled genius!

2. What work in your career are you most proud of?

The obvious answer here would be the song Bohemian Rhapsody,

which somehow everyone on this planet, even those that have never heard it,
can and will sing. But that is too easy. The real answer here is that I
managed to keep a group of amazing musicians and songwriters together for
more than three decades despite all of our egos.

3. What scandal almost killed your career (this can be completely fictional)?

Even death couldn’t kill my career, darling.

4. What secondary skill have you picked up during your career?

I am an accomplished visual artist. With the stress of touring I

haven’t had as much time to develop this as I would have liked, but such is
life.

5. How has stardom damaged you, physically or emotionally?

All I ever wanted to do was to get up on stage and move a crowd. But
somewhere along the line I became a god. How can I meet such expectations
night after night?
6. What is a reoccuring dream of yours?

Somehow it is 2021, and I haven’t died. Jim is by my side. We’re watching this
odd fellow who looks just like me play a ridiculous version of my story on the telly together and
just laughing and laughing…
