Materials Needed Abbreviations (US terminology)

• ch – chain
• Yarn of Vita Cotton Lily 100% cotton, 1.75 oz/50g approx • sl st - slip stitch
137yds/125m. You can substitute yarn just make sure that it • st(s) – stitch(es)
matches original proportions. • sc - single crochet
Suggested substitute yarn • cssc - cross stitch single crochet
"Scheepjes Catona", "Schachenmayr Catania" • dec - decrease (sc2tog)(I recommend to make invisible
• Crochet hook 2mm or 2.5mm
decreases)
• Stuffing
• inc - increase (2sc in one st)
• Safety eyes 8 mm or black embroidery floss
• rnd - round
• Scissors
• rep - repeat
• Tapestry needle
• rem - remain(ing)
Gauge 26 sc and 25 rows = 4 inches
• cont – continue
• The number after the equals signs at the end of each rnd
is the total number of sts in the rnd.
Notes
Carrot worked in a continuous spiral. Do not join to work in the rnd, just work sc in the next st. Place
marker or use contrasting color yarn to mark beg of rnd. Use hook 2.5 mm or size matching your yarn
and obtaining gauge. I recommend to work cssc to get a beautiful carrot. Video tutorial

Instructions

Carrot Magic ring video tutorial

Rnd 1: 6 sc into magic ring = 6 sts. Rnd 24 (DEC): [dec, sc in next 4 sts] 6 times = 30 sts.
Rnd 2 (INC): [inc, sc in next st] 3 times = 9 sts. Now insert safety eyes with 6 sts in between, counting 19
Rnd 3: sc in every st = 9 sts. rnds bottom from the up, see pic.1-2 or see next page for
Rnd 4 (INC): [inc, sc in next 2 sts] 3 times = 12 sts. the embroidered eyes.
Rnd 5: sc in every st = 12 sts. Rnd 25 (DEC): [dec, sc in next 3 sts] 6 times = 24 sts.
Rnd 6 (INC): [inc, sc in next 3 sts] 3 times = 15 sts. Rnd 26 (DEC): [dec, sc in next 2 sts] 6 times = 18 sts.
Rnd 7: sc in every st = 15 sts. Rnd 27 (DEC): [dec, sc in next st] 6 times = 12 sts.
Rnd 8 (INC): [inc, sc in next 4 sts] 3 times = 18 sts. Rnd 28 (DEC): [dec] 6 times = 6 sts.
Rnd 9: sc in every st = 18 sts. Bind off rem 6 sts using a needle.
Rnd 10 (INC): [inc, sc in next 5 sts] 3 times = 21 sts. Make eyesockets, using needle sculpting technique.
Rnd 11: sc in every st = 21 sts.
Rnd 12 (INC): [inc, sc in next 6 sts] 3 times = 24 sts. 1 2
Rnd 13: sc in every st = 24 sts.
Rnd 14 (INC): [inc, sc in next 7 sts] 3 times = 27 sts.
Rnd 15: sc in every st = 27 sts.
Start to stuff the carrot.
Rnd 16 (INC): [inc, sc in next 8 sts] 3 times = 30 sts.
Rnd 17: sc in every st = 30 sts.
Rnd 18 (INC): [inc, sc in next 9 sts] 3 times = 33 sts.
Rnds 19: sc in every st = 33 sts.
Rnd 20 (INC): [inc, sc in next 10 sts] 3 times = 36 sts.
Rnds 21-23: sc in every st, 3 rounds = 36 sts.

Embroider sleepy eyes with 3 sts in between, if you didn't Now sew each piece to the top of the carrot.
use safety eyes.
Then embroider the smiling mouth. Now embroider the 9 10
stripes in beige.
