PROGRAMA SA PAGBASA
(Narrative)

PROJECT TITLE: PABALAT (Pagtaas ng Antas sa Pagbasa ng Aklat: Linangin, Asikasuhin at Tuparin)

I. INTRODUCTION:

Reading is a multifaceted process that develops only with practice. There are certain aspects of reading such as fluency and word
recognition which can be learned in a few years. These basics must be mastered but at the same time reading comprehension should be
emphasized in the process. Students can parrot words on a page all day but they if don’t have the necessary skills, the won’t be able to make
predictions about what will happen next, monitor their understanding about the content, sequence or characters, clarify confusing pats oft the
text, or connect what they are reading to their own experiences or prior knowledge.

To help our students in recognizing basic words and comprehension, Filipino department conducted the project PABALAT (Pagtaas ng
Antas sa Pagbasa ng Aklat: Linangin, Asikasuhin at Tuparin) which was designed to provide learners’ reading opportunities especially those who
were significantly marked as non-reader or in frustration level as shown from the result of PHIL-IRI from each grade level. The main goal of this
project tis to encourage the learners to read so they can feel the pleasure in reading, develop enthusiasm in reading and an excellent way of
forestalling reading loss to children whose retentive memory has not yet been fully developed.
