Technology for Managers

Learning Outcomes Per Course Unit


This course focuses on the conceptual frameworks of information systems and provides skills and
competencies in information systems to contribute to an organization in management decision
making that advance the organization’s strategy and to implement the organizational structure and
dynamics of the enterprise for the purpose of managing the organization in a better way for a
competitive advantage.

Further to that the course will provide capability and initiative to lead organizations through
technological changes, discernment of, and responsible approaches to, ethical issues in technology
use by society, organizations and individuals, how technology is used to integrate the business
disciplines, introduce business cases, allow to learn to solve business problems with information
technology, introduce the strategic applications of technology, introduce the issues and problems
involved in building complex systems and organizing information resources, introduce the social
implications of information technology.

Cognitive Skills:
Students will develop in skills how to evaluate cost effectiveness and business value of information
systems.

Subject Specific Skills:


Students will gain skill on usage of information systems and technology in organizations to solve
problems, make better business decisions and create business value.
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Describe the concepts and components of information systems in organizations and the
impact of technology on business and society.
2. Apply knowledge of data governance and data management, data modeling and database
design, data warehousing and business intelligence, and predictive analytics and data
mining.
3. Evaluate the e-business and e-commerce, web technologies and platforms, online
marketing and social media, and digital business models and strategies.
4. Demonstrate the knowledge of information security and risk management, compliance
with laws and regulations, and business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
5. Effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and to work
effectively in teams.
