FUTURE TIME
Often the same future event can be described in different ways:
The shop closes at 3 pm tomorrow.
The shop will close at 3 pm tomorrow.
The shop is closing at 3 pm tomorrow.
The shop is going to close at 3 pm tomorrow.

Which way you choose to describe something depends on a number of things:


Function (For example do you want to express a request, a promise or an offer?)
How you see the furture event/situation (for example, if you see a future event as a fixed event
that cannot be changed, the present simple may be appropriate.)
Level of formality (will is usually more formal than be going to)

VOCABULARY - CHANCE AND NATURE
Gamble - Arriesgar algo de valor, como dinero con la esperanza de obtener un beneficio.
Odds - Probabilidad pero relacionado en contextos de juegos y apuestas.
Crop - Cultivo o cosecha de plantas.
Scarce- Algo que es limitado en cantidad o que no está fácilmente disponible en la cantidad deseada.
Drought- Periodo prolongado de tiempo durante el cual hay falta de lluvia.

Come across - Encontrar a alguien o algo de casualidad.


Yesterday, I came across an interesting article online about space exploration.

Kill off - Destruir seres vivos (plantas y/o animales) de modo que la mayoría o todos estén muertos.
The harsh winter killed off many of the plants in the garden.

Store up - Se refiere a la acción de guardar o reservar algo, como alimentos, suministros o recursos, para un momento
posterior cuando sea necesario
Before winter arrives, squirrels often store up nuts and seeds to have enough food during the cold months.

Cool down - Enfriarse o disminuir la temperatura de algo.


Put the drink in the refrigerator to cool down.

Heat up - Calentarse o aumentar la temperatura de algo.


The soup is still warm, but if you heat it up a little more, it will be perfect for dinner.

Under the weather - Indicar que alguien se siente enfermo o no está en su mejor estado de salud.
I won't be able to come to work today; I'm feeling a bit under the weather.
