I would absolutely LOVE to see your completed milks & cookies!! You can tag me
and mention me on Instagram (and TikTok) @josabellas. Please tag me in the
actual post so that I can see your beautiful work! If you only mention me in the
caption, it might get buried as there is a big chance I might not see it due to the
volume of notifications I receive.
PATTERN OVERVIEW
You can go in whatever order you'd like to make these plushies. The pattern starts
with the cookie body, moves on to the arms & legs for both plushies since they
both follow the same pattern, and ends with the milk carton. I usually save all of
the sewing until the end, but it's up to you!
Abbreviations:
3-inc = 3sc in one stitch
APPENDAGES (arms & legs)
BLO = back loops only The only difference between Milk & Cookie's
Dec = decrease arms & legs is the color yarn you use. Follow
FO = fasten off the instructions below for both plushies and
Inc = increase (2sc in one stitch) then sew them on later! There is an
Sc = single crochet assembly section later in the pattern that
Sl st = slip stitch will explain specifics on where to sew them.
TO = turn over
Arms (2 per plushie) - 8mm hook
COOKIE - weight 6 brown 1. 6sc in magic ring (6)
yarn and 8mm hook 2-3. Sc around (6)
1. 8sc in magic ring (8) Stuff lightly and FO with a long tail.
2. Inc x 8 (16)
3. (1sc, inc) x 8 (24) Legs (2 per plushie) - 8mm hook
4. (2sc, inc) x 8 (32) 1. 6sc in magic ring (6)
5. (3sc, inc) x 8 (40) 2. Inc x 6 (12)
6-10. Sc around (40) 3. Dec x 6 (6)
Insert safety eyes between rows 4. (Sc, dec) x 2 (4)
4 & 5. Add blush & smile if desired. Stuff and FO with a long tail.
MILK CARTON - start with weight 6 pink yarn and 8mm hook
(For blue milk, start with white and just change to blue when you get to round 14!)
1. 4sc in magic ring (4) Insert safety eyes between rows 11 &
2. 3-inc around (12) 12 and add a smile and blush. Stuff
3. Sc, 3-inc, (2sc, 3-inc) x 3, sc (20) your work; do not FO!
4. 2sc, 3-inc, (4sc, 3-inc) x 3, 2sc (28)
5. 3sc, 3-inc, (6sc, 3-inc) x 3, 3sc (36) Next, there are TWO different options
6. BLO: sc around (36) on how to close up your milk carton.
7-8. Sc around (36) Option 1 is a no-sew method whereas
9-13. In white, sc around (36) option 2 includes sewing and requires
14-18. In pink, sc around (36) stitch markers. Please choose whichever
one makes more sense to you :)
Row 19 Option 1:
Sc 4. The collage below is for Option 2, but we will use some of the photos to help us
visualize Option 1's process: pinch the carton's front and back sides together so that it
resembles pic H. Immediately after the 4th sc, insert your hook into the next stitch as
well as the one right behind it on the back side of the milk (in other words, the sc you
just made) and then slip stitch. Slip stitch through BOTH sides of the carton (you should
be going through two different stitches) for the next 2 stacked stitches. Stacked
stitch = a combination of the stitch on the front side of your carton AND the one on
the back side. Next, sc 12. You should now have 3 stacked stitches left. Finish off your
milk carton by slip stitching through these 3 stacked stitches and FO. Use your fingers
to poke the corners of the milk carton inwards. The slip stitched portions should now be
tucked in and your milk should look like pic J.
Row 20: Reattach white yarn to the first sc of row 19 and sc 12. FO.
Row 19 Option 2:
Place stitch markers in the 5th, 16th, 23rd, and 34th stitches. There should be 10 stitches
between the first 2 stitch markers, 6 stitches between the 2nd and 3rd stitch markers, 10
between the 3rd and 4th stitch markers, and 6 between the 4th and 1st stitch markers (pic A
& B). Reinsert your hook back into your work and sc 4, stopping once you reach the first
stitch marker (pic C & D). We are going to bring stitches 5 and 34 together by connecting
them with a single stitch marker. Do the same for stitches 16 and 23 (pic E). Now you can
see that we have established the front and back of the milk carton. Take your hook and sc
into BOTH stitches. Continue to sc through both sides of the carton: the process should
look like pic F. Stop after you have crocheted stitches 16 and 23 together. You should have
a total of 12sc. Now, sl st the remaining stitches together to close the hole (pic G) and FO.
Pic H shows what your work should look like at this point: the orange stitch marker marks
my last single crochet of the row and a teal one marks the first single crochet. Use the
hole (my right hand is touching it in pic I) to finish stuffing your milk, then, with a new
strand of yarn, sew the hole shut. Use your fingers to poke the corners of the milk carton
inwards. Weave in the ends. Your milk should look like pic J.
Row 20: Reattach white yarn to the first stitch (teal stitch marker) and sc 12. FO!
ASSEMBLY: This whole section is just what I do: feel free to sew on the appendages
wherever you think looks best! For cookie, arms are sewn from rows 7 to 9 and legs are sewn on
rows 6 to 7. For milk, arms are sewn between rows 10 and 11 and legs are sewn on row 6.
Feel free to sell your finished plushies, but please review and respect the guidelines
discussed earlier. You may NOT reproduce any part of this pattern in any way.
