Subject: Press Release for successful conduct of UGC – NET June 2024 – reg.

1. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has conducted UGC – NET June 2024 for (i) ‘award
of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor’, (ii) ‘appointment
as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.’ and (iii) ‘admission to Ph.D. only’ in 83
subjects in OMR (Pen and Paper), mode on 18th June 2024 in two (02) different shifts (09:30
AM to 12:30 Noon and 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM).

2. In the above context, it is pertinent to mention that the UGC has introduced for the first time a provision to
provide opportunity to candidates of a Four Year UG Programme for ‘award of Junior Research
Fellowship and ‘admission to Ph.D. only’.

3. The UGC – NET June 2024 examination has been conducted successfully at 1205 Exam Centres in 317 cities
across the country for 11,21,225 candidates.

4. In this year’s UGC – NET June 2024 Examination, the total of 11,21,225 registered candidates comprised of
6,35,587 Females, 4,85,579 Males and 59 Third Gender candidates. In comparison the last year’s UGC –
NET Exam December 2023, had a total of 9,45,872 registered candidates.

5. The Shift wise details of the candidates of UGC – NET June 2024 are as follows:

6. Out of the total registered candidates, ~ 81 % candidates appeared for the exam. In the UGC – NET December
2023 Exam, the attendance was ~ 73.6% percentage.

7. The successful conduct of the exam was made possible by sincere efforts of City Coordinators, Centre
Superintendents, Observers, NTA Officials and staff, and the enabling support system.
