Call for Chapters

Proposals Submission Deadline: July 21, 2024
Full Chapters Due: October 13, 2024
Submission Date: October 13, 2024

Introduction
Spatially variable genes in cancer refer to genes that exhibit different expression levels or
patterns across different regions or cells within a tumor. This book sheds light on the
heterogeneity within tumors, challenging the traditional one-size-fits-all approach. The chapters
will examine how spatially variable genes (SVGs) influence tumor biology and pave the way for
novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are a crucial
component of the tumor microenvironment (TME), playing a fundamental role in tumor
progression, metastasis, and therapy response. Identifying and characterizing SVGs can reveal
novel targets for cancer treatment. Combining spatial transcriptomics with other omics data
(genomics, proteomics) can provide a more comprehensive picture of tumor biology. The books
will be a platform to highlight research efforts towards developing integrated analysis pipelines
for personalized cancer treatment strategies.

Objective
The objective of this work is to emphasizes the potential of spatially variable genes (SVGs) for
clinical applications, bridging the gap between research and practical use in cancer treatment.
The book will integrate knowledge from various disciplines, including cancer biology, spatial
transcriptomics, synthetic biology, machine learning and clinical oncology. By combining
expertise from various fields, researchers can gain a comprehensive understanding of the
development, progression, and treatment response of spatially variable genes in cancer. This
collaboration enables the development of innovative approaches and strategies for cancer
diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment.

Target Audience
Understanding the development, progression, and treatment response of spatially variable genes
in cancer requires interdisciplinary collaboration between various fields, including biology,
medicine, genomics, and computational analysis."Spatially Variable Genes in Cancer" appeals to
a broad audience beyond the field of oncology research and medicine. By combining
fundamental knowledge with translational applications, the book will cater to a diverse audience
within the cancer research and computational biology landscape.
