SHIPPING MANAGER

Reporting to the Country Shipping Director, you will be responsible for developing and
implementing strategies to promote shipping company's activities, strengthen market position
and ensure customer satisfaction.

Type of contract : Permanent


• 12 months renewable
• 40 hours of weekly work
Location : Port-Gentil (GABON)
Requirements : 7 - 10 years in similar position
Category : Executive (C1)
Starting Contract Date : August 01st 2024.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Shipping Manager will be:


• Responsible in managing and understanding shipping lines (both tramp and liner vessels)
requirements for business.
• Responsible in providing comprehensive solutions to build strong and professional
relationship with shipowners (both tramp and liner vessels), the Shipping Agency
contractually represents.

• Responsible in maintaining outstanding performance in the shipping activities.

• Responsible for ensuring that all the ship's needs, while in port are met efficiently and
cost-effectively.

• Responsible in ensuring per each vessel call that, all documentation (Customs clearance,
Statement of facts, Entry/exit declaration, Cargo manifest, Mate's Receipt, etc.…); and
necessary authorizations with local authorities (Port Authorities, Customs etc...) have
been obtained.

• Responsible in providing necessary assistance to the Shipowner for each vessel call while
making sure all the process of assistance to the Shipowner is fully compliant.

• Responsible for defending the interest of the Shipowner for whom the Shipping Agency is
Agent.

• Responsible for providing continuously on time, correct and verified information (Detailed
Port situation) to the Shipowners the Shipping Agency represents.

• Responsible for providing as Agent, Protection, and Indemnity (P&I) to the Shipowners the
Shipping Agency represents.

• Required to work closely with the Shipping Agency Back Office & Cost Controlling
Department to make sure all Shipowners Account Balances are up to date.

Sensitivity: Internal
• Responsible in professionally managing team members under His/her scope in the
Shipping Agency.

• Responsible in ensuring all the reporting and KPI linked to His/her scope are continuously
improved and updated.

• Responsible in leading various meetings/Conference calls with the different stakeholders


(Shipowners, Port Authorities, Customers, Head Office Team etc.…).

Requirements :
• Degree in Business Administration/ Logistics / Shipping or relevant studies
• Prior 7 to 10 years’ experience in a shipping agency, managing both tramp and liner vessels
will be a plus.
• Nationality: Gabonese.

Know - How :

• Both English/French proficiency


• MS Office’s Pack (Excel, PowerPoint etc.…) skills
• ERP/Systems friendly using.

• Leader
• Analytical skills
• Synthesis skills
