What is Production linked incentive?

• The scheme aims to provide financial incentives to eligible manufacturers based on their
incremental production and sales over a base year.

• Objective: Scale up domestic manufacturing capability, increase import substitution, and

generate employment.

• Launched in March 2020.

• Automobile and auto components, electronics and IT
hardware, telecom, pharmaceuticals, solar modules, metals and mining, textiles and
apparel, white goods, drones, and advanced chemistry cell batteries.

India’s latest warship, Mahendragiri, will be launched today at the Mazagon
Dock Shipbuilders, Mumbai.

Mahendragiri, named after a mountain peak in Eastern Ghats located in the

state of Odisha, is the seventh ship of the Project 17A Frigates

 • Launched by the Indian Navy in 2019.

• These are currently being constructed by two companies

• Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (MDL) and
• Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE)

is low-observable which can make its approach undetectable

• It facilitates seamless two-way messaging services, connecting fishing
vessels with onshore authorities and control centers.
• The system can convey weather alerts, cyclone warnings, and other
information in the local language.
• In cases of emergencies like boat accidents or fires, fishermen can activate
the device to alert the control centre.
• Additionally, the device provides details about shipping routes, maritime

The NEWS:

India and New Zealand have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for an open sky
policy that allows more flights between various cities in the two countries.

• Open Sky Agreements are bilateral agreements that the two countries negotiate to
provide rights for airlines to offer international passenger and cargo services.

• Air Services Agreement (ASA) provides the legal framework for air operations between two
countries which is based on the principles of sovereignty of nations, nationality of carriers
and reciprocity in terms of commercial opportunities for the designated airlines of each side.
• Under the MoU-

o Designated airlines from New Zealand may operate any number of services with any type of aircraft,
with third and fourth freedom traffic rights at 6 points in India: New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru,
Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.

o Similarly, the designated airlines of India may operate any number of services with any type of
aircraft with third and fourth freedom traffic rights to & and from Auckland, Wellington, and
Christchurch in New Zealand

• What is third and fourth freedom?

o The third freedom is the right to carry passengers or cargo from one's own country to another. The
right to carry passengers or cargo from another country to one's own is the fourth freedom.
