Final Assessment

The objective of the final assessment through such written forms as literature review, research
proposal, portfolio, and written assignment, etc. is to evaluate students' comprehensive
understanding, application of knowledge, critical analysis, and synthesis of course materials. The
assessment also aims to evaluate students' ability to demonstrate advanced research skills, critical
thinking, and effective written communication.

Assessment Criteria

Literature Review for Research:

a. Coverage and Depth: Comprehensive review of relevant literature, including key concepts,
theories, and methodologies.
b. Critical Analysis: Evaluation and synthesis of research findings, identification of gaps, and
critical insights.
c. Organization and Structure: Clear and logical structure, coherence, and flow of ideas.
d. Writing Style: Clarity, conciseness, and effectiveness of written expression, including
grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
e. Referencing: Proper use of citations and references, adhering to the required referencing
style.

Research Proposal:
a. Clarity
b. Specificity
c. Significance of the research question
d. Appropriateness and feasibility of the proposed research methods and data collection
procedures.

Portfolio:

a. Content: Inclusion of a range of artifacts demonstrating achievement of learning outcomes


and engagement with course material.
b. Reflection: Thoughtful and critical reflection on learning experiences, growth, and insights
gained throughout the course.
c. Organization and Presentation: Clear organization, coherence, and effective presentation of
portfolio materials.
d. Connection to Course Objectives: Demonstrated alignment between portfolio artifacts and
the course objectives.

Written assignment:

a. Knowledge and Understanding: Demonstrated grasp of key concepts, theories, and


principles covered in the course.
b. Analysis and Application: Ability to analyze and apply learned knowledge to problem-
solving or real-world scenarios.
c. Synthesis: Integration of ideas from different course topics or modules to demonstrate a
holistic understanding.
d. Clarity and Coherence: Clear and coherent responses, effectively communicating ideas.

Weightage: 60% or 50% of the assessment pack

Assessment Methods

The final assessment will be conducted as home assignments. The deadline for the final
assignment is no later than 14 days after the final lesson of the course unit.

Assessment Procedures

The lecturer schedules and administers the final assessment according to the course plan. The
assignment will be graded following predetermined guidelines.

- The lecturer turns in softcopies/ hardcopies of student mark sheet to the Hanu-UC
academic administrators no later than 1 month after the course unit ends.
- The lecturer upload softcopies of students’ assessed papers to the shared folder provided
by Hanu-UC academic administrators to finish the assessment procedure.

Grade conversion and course completion

The combined weightages of the three components (participation, progress and final assessment)
adding up to 100% of the final grade will be converted into mark 10. Students must complete every
assessment item and achieve an aggregate mark of 5.0 to pass the course unit.

Academic Integrity

Students must adhere to the principles of academic integrity during their progress and final
assessment. Any form of cheating, plagiarism, or academic dishonesty will be strictly addressed as
contravening the institution's policies.

Turnitin accounts will be issued to students to check for plagiarism before final submissions.

Communication

The assessment regulation will be communicated to all students enrolled in the course at the
beginning of the semester. It will be made available in the course syllabus/ through relevant course
materials or learning management systems.
