Passion
Every good architect needs to have a desire for what they do; it is what got you started and
took you down this career path to begin with. Those who are eager and enthusiastic to get the
job done to a high standard are the ones that tend to accomplish goals with a greater work ethic
and level of productivity.
Being easy-going
In a field of work where designs can change and key fundamentals are affected by a budget,
approaching this with an unfazed attitude can be more beneficial to the project. There will be
times when the job can get stressful and put you under a lot of pressure, but maintaining a calm
and relaxed demeanour will see tasks completed with a clear and focused mind.
Confidence
Whether you are discussing plans with colleagues or clients, those who inject a bit of self-
assurance in the way they work and communicate can bring a sense of calm and encourage a
relaxed atmosphere, seeing the job done in a positive manner.
Creativity
An ability to think outside the box is something that can make any architect stand out
against the crowd. Throughout history, those who tend to challenge the traditional values and
present an alternative are those that make it, as long as the idea is feasible.

LISTENING TRANSCRIPT
Part 1:
Woman: Hello. I’d like some information about the city tours please.
Man: Certainly. The tours will take you by bus to all the most famous places in the city.
You can get off the bus if you like, and you can get on the next tour bus that passes.
Woman: How often are the tours?
Man: They leave every fifteen minutes.
Woman: And what time is the last tour of the day?
Man: Half past five. So, if you go on that tour, you won’t be able to get off the bus and get
on a later one.
Woman: How much are the tickets?
Man: They’re ten pounds for adults and five pounds for children under 16.
Woman: Fine. Can I buy tickets on the bus?
Man: No, you can’t. You need to get tickets from the Tour Bus office. Do you know where
that is?
Woman: No, I don’t.
Man: It’s on Wrexham Street.
Woman: Wrexham Street?
Man: Yes, that’s W-R-E-X-H-A-M. The office is open from nine in the morning until five in
the afternoon.
Woman: Great. And do the buses leave from outside the office?
Man: No, the buses leave from the City Hall.
Woman: Okay. Thanks for your help.

Part 2:
Hello, my name is Michael. I’m Polish. I had my first contact with English when I was six. My
dad inspired me to listen to The Beatles, and I listened to them every day for the next seven
years. Firstly, I got a book with the words of all the songs. Still, I understood very little of the
meaning. It became my dream to learn English so well that I could understand The Beatles. So
The Beatles were my first motivation. That is how I started my path towards English.
Today, I can understand The Beatles very clearly. Every time I hear a Beatles song, I am
delighted and proud because I have made my childhood dream come true. I listen to many
rock bands, all in English, and I listen every day, sometimes for over seven hours a day. I am
constantly aware of my success with English because I can understand the lyrics of the songs I
listen to. And that gives me pleasure and satisfaction for many hours a day.
In addition, when I was 13 years old, I started reading science fiction books in both Polish
and English. I mainly read in Polish but sometimes I felt that in English the books would be
even more interesting and reading would be more exciting. At some point, I read my first whole
book in English and I understood it. That moment was a breakthrough in my life. Now I have
read many pop-science books and mathematics books in English. I discovered that English
is a very important tool for learning science.
