CONSTRUCTION OF RING ROAD AROUND AMARAVATI IN ANDHRA PRADESH

*184. SHRI KANAKAMEDALA RAVINDRA KUMAR:

Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS be pleased to state:

(a) whether Government has any proposal to construct 189 km long ring road around
Amaravati, the proposed capital for the new State of Andhra Pradesh before the
announcement of three capital cities by the incumbent Government;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether Government has pursued the matter of construction of ring road around
Amaravati in spite of the uncertainty prevailing in declaration of that city as a new
capital for the State of Andhra Pradesh;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (A) TO (E) OF RAJYA SABHA
STARRED QUESTION NO. 184 ON 15TH DECEMBER, 2021 ASKED BY SHRI
KANAKAMEDALA RAVINDRA KUMAR REGARDING ‘CONSTRUCTION OF RING
ROAD AROUND AMARAVATI IN ANDHRA PRADESH’.

(a) & (b) This Ministry is primarily responsible for the development and maintenance of
National Highways in the country.

(c) to (e) Earlier, feasibility study was got conducted for 180 km with 100m ROW for outer
Ring Road to Vijayawada – Guntur – Tenali Urban Agglomeration subject to the
condition that State Govt. of Andhra Pradesh agrees to provide entire land free of
cost. Subsequently, Government of Andhra Pradesh requested for developing
only 78 km Eastern Bypass to Vijayawada and it was decided that State Govt. of
Andhra Pradesh may hand over the entire land free from encumbrance without
any cost to Ministry for enabling taking up the project.
