Question 1: 7+6 Marks

(a) Let 0 < u < 1/2. For each of the following sequences, give its limit if it exists
or the set of values infinitely taken by the general term of the sequence.

Give explicit and simplified expressions for S and A in the following cases.

Question 3: 5 + 4 Marks

(a) Let a ∈ R and f and g be real functions such that for all x,

(a) Give the formal definition of ”f (x) tends to L as x tends to ∞”.


(b) Give the formal definition of the continuity of f at a.
(c) Show that if limx→c f (x) = L and limx→c f (x) = M, then L = M.
