POKEMON PLATINUM WALKTHROUGH

Canalave City

As you exit the gym, you'll bump into your rival. Follow him to Canalave Library and head to the top
floor where you'll have a meeting with Professor Rowan, his assistant, and your rival. You'll discuss
the three lakes of Sinnoh: Verity, Acuity and Valor. Midway through conversation, there will be a loud
explosion and you'll hear reports that it happened at Lake Valor.

It's time to investigate - fly to Pastoria or Veilstone City and make your way there. You'll see that the
lake is in a state of devastation, with all the water blasted out and the poor Magikarp helplessly flailing
about on dry land. Head to the center of the lake and you'll face off against Galactic Commander
Saturn.

A Psychic type should be able to take out both Golbat and Toxicroak, but you might have some
troubles with Saturn's Levitating Bronzor, whose only weakness is Fire. After you defeat Saturn, he'll
mention another operation going on at Lake Verity, so head home to Twinleaf Town and make your
way to the lake. There, you'll see Rowan and his assisant battling the Grunts. Help them out, then
prepare to battle Galactic Commander Mars.

Same strategies again for Golbat and Bronzor, but for Purugly, try to take it down with a good Fighting
type. Remember that Fake Out will hit you first, and be careful of Hypnosis. You can try your luck with
a Ghost type, but it'll take some heavy damage from Faint Attack. Mars will vanish with her underlings
in tow after the battle, and Rowan will tell you to check on your rival at Lake Acuity. You'll want to
prepare your Pokemon for a very long journey ahead, as well as grab a Pokemon with Rock Smash,
Strength and Defog. Fly to Celestic Town or Eterna City and enter Mt. Coronet.

If you came from Eterna City, make your way over to the other side of the cave. At the other
entrance, head north and use Strength to move the boulder out of the way, and continue north and
around the bend to descend into the basement of Mt. Coronet. The fog will come on pretty quick, so
use Defog to clear it away. There's a few items around the place, so you can take your time to explore
this area of Mt. Coronet (you can always come back later) or you can just head north to the stairs.

Once you've ascended the stairs, just head around the corner to the cave exit. You might notice this
small area has one change from Diamond and Pearl - the inclusion of an extra cavern which holds
nothing except for a NeverMeltIce. This cavern is in fact home to Regice, and it will only appear if you
have the Movie Promo Regigigas. Getting the Regigigas from Snowpoint Temple will not work

This area is quite linear, but it is full of trainers and snow, making running difficult at times. You'll find
a small rest house a short way into Route 216. Heal up, and persevere. Just north is Route 217, and it
will start snowing heavily. While you're on Route 217, Hail will automatically be set up in any battle
you partake in.

Continue north, and as you pass a block of trees, stick to the west side of the route. You should reach
a house with a lone Hiker inside. He'll explain that he's lost his HM, so go outside and pick it up for
him (it's at the back of his out). Return it to him and he'll let you keep it, as well as give you an Icicle
Plate for your honesty. Continue north and if you stick to the east side, you'll see a house where a girl
inside will give you a Spell Tag. Just north of this house is Ice Rock, where you can level up an Eevee
and it will evolve into a Glaceon. Just north from here is Acuity Lakefront. You'll spot your rival at the
top of a slope; you'll need the HM you got earlier, HM08 - Rock Climb, to scale the wall. Unfortunately,
you'll need Snowpoint City Gym's badge to use it, so continue east and you'll arrive at Snowpoint City.

Snowpoint City

The house in the northeast corner of town is home to one of Sinnoh's tutors, as well as a man who will
add a random word to your vocabulary. There's not much else to see, so you can head straight to the
gym. Snowpoint Gym has slightly changed since Diamond and Pearl so while the puzzle is the same,
the snowballs are in a different position. Destroy the snowballs in the way by sliding from higher levels
to lower levels. You'll be stopped by stairs and patches of snow, so in order to get the most
momentum, you'll want a clear shot at the snowballs.

A Steel Pokemon should be able to sweep Candice's team since it resists almost every attack, while
being super effective against all four Pokemon. Don't let the battle with Froslass drag on too long or
those Double Teams will really start to annoy. Once again, Once again, Staraptor's Close Combat
becomes useful, but this can be risky since Staraptor is also weak to Ice and Close Combat obviously
won't work against Froslass. Note that Sneasel is 4x weak to Fighting and Abomasnow is 4x weak to
Fire - exploit these to your own advantage.

After you defeat Candice, you will be awarded the Icicle Badge, which will allow you to use HM08 -
Rock Climb outside of battle. She will also give you TM72 - Avalanche, which doubles in power if the
user is damaged before it attacks.
