Lesson topic: Helping the world

Lesson objective(s):
 Developing empathy and compassion towards others, and recognizing the importance of
helping those in need, even with small things.
 hands-on activitie aimed for raising awareness about plastic pollution and fostering a
sense of responsibility for protecting sea animals and marines

CONTENT and ACTIVITIES SKILLS* LENGTH*

INTRODUCTION:
-This is two hours lesson
-the lesson would start by everyone sitting on the mat that is set up
on the floor, each student would get gloves, paper in a different -5 minutes
colour, pen and trash bag
- students would watch an educational video that shows homeless Learning
people living by the beach, cleaning it up and saving the animals and Listening -5 minutes

-after that each student is getting the same asignement and that is to
take paper and with pen, write one positive message and fold the Writing -3 minutes
paper
- After everyone is over with writing their note all the papers are -2 minute
mixed in the hat
- By engaging students about importants of helping those in need,
small things that mean a lot , you are giving them asignement about -5 minutes
today field trip, and that is that everyone is going to the shelter by the Listening
beach they saw in the video, they are going to give one postivie
message to each homeless person and clean the beach in the pairs by
the colour of the paper they get.
-They will be choosing papers randomly by going out of classroom and Reading
pairing with their colours as they take it
- Students are also given asignemets that by talking with the pair they -5 minutes
are in, they need to see how their friend would change the world and Speaking
present it by coming back in classroom, but for it to be interesting
they need to present one another

MAIN PART:
After walking to the shelter near the beach they have their first Walking 10 minutes
assignement as they were given
1. Interaction at the Shelter:
guiding the students to the shelter where they will interact with the
homeless individuals.
- each student has to give one positive message to every homeless Giving

- Its time for them to get their necessary tools out such as gloves and
trash bags to carry out the clean-up activity.

conversations with their partner about how they can change the world.

After coming to the classroom its time for reflection
and classroom Presentation:
- Talking with them about their feelings, the inpact on them, their
experience and opinion 5 minutes
- Asking them to reflect on their experience at the shelter and discuss Speaking
with their partner how their friend would change the world, for the last Listening
time, they wil have one scentence to describe how he would change
the world to be a better place
- Instruct students to present their partner's ideas and thoughts to the 5 minutes
class in an interesting and creative way, they can speak they can take an Speaking
object, they can wave with hands , they can express emotions on face, Listening
every positive way is allowed

- This exercise will encourage listening skills, empathy, and foster a Listening
sense of community, they will learn about their emotions not just
trough reading and listening but trough seeing it in person, I personally
think this time of lesson would help liam a lot to see that others have
emotions too and that he doesn’t have to be afraid of them, I think that
the part of talking to the homeless people would help him control his
emotions in a ways of showing him that even in some bad situations its
not so bad, he would communicate with his friends, see people that are
like him and maybe trough that way make some new friendships and
strongen his emotions with not removing them but with strengthening
them.
