3.  Product Architecture and

Instructions
3.1 Product Functions
Functions supported by H0FL-11000P/H0FL-11000N are described as
follows:

 IEEE 802.3ah OAM Function: Set Through NMS

The 802.3ah OAM function of the product supports 3 operating modes:

Active mode, Passive mode and Auto mode. CO equipment H0FL-P.V2
11000P/11000N card operates in Active or Auto, and remote equipment H0FL-
11000P/H0FL-11000N operates in Passive. By customizing 802.3ah OAM, the
NMS can manage remote equipment through CO card, realizing remote network
management.

The Active mode can initiate query and configuration frame, e.g. OAM
discovery, OAM loopback, and remote Dying Gasp according to 802.3ah protocol.
It can also extend custom OAM remote management, to realize management of
remote equipment; The Passive mode cannot initiate query and configuration
frame, but it can perform passive response, e.g. OAM discovery, MIB variable
response, OAM loopback, and Dying Gasp; Auto mode is adaptive mode of
Active and Passive; When OAM is disabled, the product will neither initiate
OAM frame, nor respond to it.

OAM of H0FL-11000N device supports reporting unidirectional fiber-cut

alarm; OAM of H0FL-11000P device does not support unidirectional fiber-cut
alarm, because dual optical path needs protection switching.

H0FL-11000P/H0FL-11000N Gigabit Media Converter User‟s Manual V1.7 7

Beijing Huahuan Electronics Co., Ltd

 IEEE 802.1q VLAN and IEEE 802.1ad VLAN Functions: Set Through
NMS

H0FL-11000P/H0FL-11000N supports port isolation based on IEEE 802.1q

VLAN and IEEE 802.1ad VLAN. In 802.1q VLAN, 15 VLAN groups can be set.
When ingress mode of VLAN port configuration is set to Disable, only data
packets which are with TAG and have VID consistent with VLAN list may be
forwarded. When ingress mode is set to Enable, untag data packets which have
PVID consistent with VLAN list or data packets which have VID consistent with
VLAN list and are with TAG may be forwarded, and the untag packets will be
marked default port VID and forwarded. When the TAG attribute is set to tag, the
forwarded export data will have VLAN marks. When the TAG attribute is set to
untag, VLAN marks of the forwarded export data will be stripped. The product
supports 802.1ad VLAN, i.e. double VLAN, in which the SVLAN tag protocol
identifier can be configured according to operator network planning. The range is
0x600~0xFFFF. The default value of this product is 0X9100.

When VLAN is disabled, the electrical port and optical port of equipment
will become switching ports.

 LFP (Link Fault Pass-through) Function: Set Through Dip or NMS

The Ethernet electrical port of H0FL-11000P/H0FL-11000N in any mode; or

the Ethernet optical port in auto-negotiation mode or in force 100M full-duplex
mode, supports Ethernet channel LFP function. When LFP is enabled, the
equipment can automatically detect the connection state in Ethernet electrical port.
When the electrical port links down (unconnected Ethernet cable or optical path);
the Ethernet electrical port will be given a manual Link Down. When the optical
port is in force 1000M full-duplex mode, LFP will not be supported. And port
mode priority principle is observed. When optical port is set to 1000M full-duplex
mode, Ethernet channel LFP cannot be enabled by NMS or Dip. When LFP is
enabled, and optical port is set to 1000M full-duplex mode, LFP will be
automatically disabled.

8 H0FL-11000P/H0FL-11000N Gigabit Media Converter User‟s Manual V1.7

Beijing Huahuan Electronics Co., Ltd

 Flow Control Function: Set Through NMS

H0FL-11000P/H0FL-11000N supports 802.1X flow control. When the data

packet traffic surpasses the Ethernet configured bandwidth of the equipment,
Pause frame will be automatically sent to the remote sending end, decreasing the
sending traffic to avoid packet loss.

Note: When the optical port is in force 100M full-duplex mode, flow
control will not be supported.

 Port Rate Limit Function: Set Through NMS

H0FL-11000P/H0FL-11000N supports Ethernet bandwidth control function,

capable of limiting ingress/egress rate, the rate-limit granularity is 64Kbps. The
port rate limit function and flow control function can be used in conjunction, to
ensure that there is no packet loss when port rate limit is enabled.

 Ethernet Loopback Test: Set Through NMS

H0FL-11000P/H0FL-11000N supports Ethernet loopback test function.

When remote loopback test is set, if the local Ethernet electrical port is sending
packets through normal optical connection, the remote equipment will loop back
the received packets to the sending port. By observing the local Ethernet receiving
and sending packets, the state of optical path can be judged. When remote
loopback is set, first ensure that OAM mode should be set to Active; LFP
function must be disabled before the loopback test, or the test function would
be affected.

3.2 Front and Rear Panels

fiber port has priority. The Ethernet fiber port of Gigabit Ethernet media converter
H0FL-11000P/H0FL-11000N uses SFP module, supporting hot plug and play.
When single fiber module is used, only 1 optical fiber exists. The wavelength of
single fiber module denotes its emission wavelength, which is 1310nm or 1550nm.
Note that single fiber equipment with the same emission wavelength cannot
communicate. So when connecting with single fiber, matched emission
wavelength equipment should be selected.

When the plug is inserted into media converter module, the locating pin on
the plug should be put into the corresponding locating notch on the socket and
make sure the pin is in place. Pay attention to the sending and receiving
correspondence with the remote equipment. The bending radius of pigtail should
not be less than 50mm. When plugging or unplugging optical fiber connector,
please do not directly pull the optical fiber. The protection plug on the optical port
seat should be preserved. When no optical fiber is plugged, the protection plug
must be inserted to prevent dust from entering.
