1 September

INS 'Vikrant'
 The Prime Minister dedicated the first indigenously built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant to the nation.
 Built at the Cochin Shipyard, the construction of this aircraft carrier has cost Rs 20,000 crore.
 According to the Indian Navy, the full displacement of the long carrier (262M) is approximately 45,000
tonnes.
 Vikrant has 14 decks with 2,300 coaches that can carry around 1,500 soldiers.

New flag of Indian navy


 Recently the Prime Minister unveiled the new flag of the Indian Navy in Kochi.
 Basic suggestions for change were provided by Vice Admiral V.E.C Barboza.
 The current flag is essentially the successor to the pre-independence flag of the Indian Navy, which had
the Red George Cross on a white background with the Union Jack of the United Kingdom on the upper
left corner.
 After independence, on August 15, 1947, the Indian Defense Forces continued with the British colonial
flag and badge and on January 26, 1950, its appearance/design was changed.
 St. George's Cross has been removed in the new flag of the Indian Navy. Features the Indian Navy crest
on a dark blue background enclosed in an octagon representing the royal seal of Chhatrapati Shivaji
Maharaj.
 Since the independence of the country, the naval emblem has been changed four times.

Tejas Mark-2 Project


 The Security Committee of the Cabinet has approved the Tejas Mark-II project.
 The committee has approved Rs 6500 crore for the design and development of Tejas Mark-2 fighter
aircraft with prototype, flight testing and certification.
 This amount is in addition to the existing Rs 2.5 thousand crore sanctioned to Hindustan Aeronautics
Limited.
 The Tejas 2.0 will be equipped with the more powerful GE-F 414 engine. The load carrying capacity of
this aircraft will be 4 tonnes.

Road Accidents in India - NCRB


 According to the NCRB, during the year 2021, two-wheelers have claimed the maximum lives of 69,240
people in road accidents in the country.
 It has contributed to 44.5 per cent of the total road accidents. It is followed by cars (23,531 deaths) (15.1
percent) and trucks or lorries (14,622 deaths) (9.4 percent).

 According to the report, Tamil Nadu (11.9%) has the highest number of accidents involving two-
wheelers, followed by Uttar Pradesh (10.3%) where 7,429 people died.
 According to the NCRB, Uttar Pradesh has the worst record in terms of deaths in SUV, car and jeep
accidents, where 4,039 people died in these vehicle accidents, which is 17.2 percent of the deaths in
this category.

 The International Monetary Fund has agreed to provide an additional $2 billion to 900 million dollars over
the next four years to deal with the crippling economic crisis and corruption in Sri Lanka.
 Recently Serum Institute of India and Department of Biotechnology launched indigenously developed
quadrivalent Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine for the prevention of cervical cancer.
 The largest religious monument in the world will be set up in West Bengal (Nadia district) at the temple of
the Vedic Planetarium, which will serve as the headquarters of ISKCON. It would be inspired by the
design of the Capitol building in the United States.
 The Bulk Drug Park is a major initiative to support bulk drug manufacturing in the country. In the plan of
financial outlay of three thousand crore rupees notified in the year 2020, there is a provision of financial
assistance to these three states for setting up bulk drug parks.
 Home Minister Amit Shah launched the e-Awas web-portal of the Central Armed Police Forces in New
Delhi.
 In the 14th meeting of the 14th India-UAE Joint Commission, India and the UAE have reiterated their
commitment to achieve the target of US$ 100 billion of bilateral trade over the next five years.
 Nuakhai festival is being celebrated in Odisha. This is the traditional festival of farmers to welcome the
new crop (Paddy) in the fields.
 The Under-17 Women's World Football Cup will be played from October 11 to 30 at Kalinga Stadium in
Bhubaneswar, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao and DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
 Indian sprinter Amlan Borgohain has set a new national record with a timing of 10.25 seconds in the
men's 100m race at the Inter-Railway Athletics Championships held in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh.
 The University Grants Commission (UGC) has prepared a single window system, which has been named
'e-Samadhan', for the purpose of quick resolution of every problem of the students.
 The Andhra Pradesh government has banned the use of vinyl banners across the state as part of a
campaign against plastic products.
 Jammu and Kashmir Police has launched an app called 'JKCop' for citizen centric services.
 The Ministry of Women and Child Development is celebrating the 5th National Nutrition Month 2022 from
1st to 30th September, 2022. This year is being celebrated with the main focus on “Women and Health”
and “Child and Education”.

World Coconut Day


 World Coconut Day is celebrated every year on 2 September to commemorate the founding day of the
International Coconut Community (ICC).
 This year the theme of the day is 'Cultivate coconut for a happy future and life'.
 The day is celebrated to commemorate the formation day of the Asian Pacific Coconut Community
(APCC).
 APCC is an intergovernmental organization of 18 member states.
 India is one of the founding members of APCC and ranks first in global coconut production and
productivity.
 The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has paid tributes to Veer Puli Thevar on his birth anniversary.
He was an early freedom fighter who was born in Tamil Nadu in 1715.

 Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that the International Monetary Fund's estimates show
that India is ranked fifth this year on an annual basis, just behind the US, China, Japan and Germany.
 As per the report of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Unique
Identification Authority of India is the leader among all the Ministries and Departments in the matter of
redressal of public grievances.
 The Reserve Bank will soon start a pilot project of complete digitization of Kisan Credit Cards. It is also
called KCC landing.
 All women employees of the Central Government will get a special leave of 60 days. This leave will be
given within 28 days of the birth of the child or in cases of death during delivery.
 Senior Supreme Court judge Justice DY Chandrachud has been nominated as the acting chairman of the
National Legal Services Authority.
 Former India goalkeeper and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kalyan Choubey from West Bengal All India
Football Federation -AIFF has been elected as the new president. Mr. Choubey is the first person who
has become the president after a player.
 Central Council of Research in Ayurvedic Sciences has taken a unique initiative to support the research
efforts of bright young talent of the country by developing Studentship Program for Ayurveda Research
Cane (SPARK) for students of Ayurveda (BAMS) studying in recognized Ayurveda colleges.
 Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched the country's first virtual school in Delhi. The name of this school
will be 'Delhi Model Virtual School'.
 Nagesh Singh has been appointed as the Ambassador of India to Thailand.
 Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has announced the construction of India's first and the

world's largest carbon fiber plant at Hazira, Gujarat.
 Recently, an Indian Army contingent arrived in Russia to participate in the multilateral tactical and
command exercise Vostok – 2022 to be held from 1-7 September 2022. More than 50 thousand soldiers
from India, China, Laos, Mongolia, Nicaragua, Syria and former Soviet countries will participate in this
exercise.
 Ashutosh Rarawikar, Director, Department of Economic and Policy Research (DEPR), Reserve Bank of
India (RBI) has authored a new book titled Indian Banking in Retrospect- 75 years of Independence.
 Drinking water will now be made available at six railway stations of Mumbai Division of Central Railway
through the technology of generating water from air with the help of a device called Meghdoot
(Atmospheric Water Generator Equipment).
 The Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the 6th
State Coconut Development Board Center at Junagadh, Gujarat.

Southern regional council


 Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired the 30th meeting of the Southern Zonal Council in
Thiruvananthapuram.
 Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Karnataka Chief
Minister Basavaraj Bommai attended the meeting.
 Apart from these, senior ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Lieutenant Governors of
Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar, administrators of Lakshadweep and senior officials of Central
and State Governments also attended the meeting.

Smart Solutions Challenge and Inclusive Cities Award 2022


 Recently, the Smart Solution Challenge and Inclusive Cities Award, 2022 were presented by the Ministry
of Housing and Urban Affairs.
 In the early stage innovations category, the winner was Fifth Sense by Glovatrix Pvt Ltd, a 'wearable'
technology product.
 This product uses sensors and artificial intelligence to translate sign language gestures into speech and
text.
 In the second category of Ready to Market Solutions, Mouseware by Dextroware Devices Pvt Ltd was
the winner. Mouseware is a head-wearable device that enables hands-free control of computers and
smart gadgets.
 Belagavi Smart City System for providing access to education and healthcare for people with disabilities
was awarded the top prize in the category of Implemented Solutions.

 The Smart Solutions Challenge is an initiative of the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) and the
United Nations (UN) in India.

Spiritual Guru Anukulchandra Thakur


 The 135th birth anniversary of spiritual leader Anukulchandra Thakur was celebrated in Hemayetpur,
Pabna, Bangladesh.
 Shri Anukulchandra Thakur, a spiritual leader and social reformer, was born in 1888 in Hemayetpur,
Pabna.
 He started a spiritual movement that emphasized the unity of all religions. He established institutions for
girls' education and scientific research.
 Some great leaders of the freedom movement like Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das considered him as
their Guru. Mahatma Gandhi also met him when he went to Pabna.

 The Department of Science and Technology of the Central Government will set up India's first night
sanctuary (Dark Sky Reserve) at Hanle in Ladakh. It will be a part of Chungthang Sanctuary.
 A mobile application named 'Nutrition Tracker' has been launched in Assam for effective implementation
of ICDS services.
 The Ramon Magsaysay Award 2022 will be given to Cambodian psychiatrist Sothiara Chhim and
Japanese ophthalmologist Tadashi Hattori, Philippine pediatrician Bernadette Madrid and French
environmental activist Gary Bencheghi.
 According to a recently released UN report, China is committing serious violations of the human rights of
Uighurs. The Uighurs are a predominantly Muslim minority Turkic ethnic group, whose origins are
believed to be from Central and East Asia.
 The government has given permission to organize Hyderabad Liberation Day programs for the next one
year from September 17 of this month. On this day in 1948, the erstwhile Hyderabad State was merged
with the Union of India. Hyderabad state was under Nizam's rule and the police had launched a
campaign for its merger with India called 'Operation Polo', which ended on 17 September 1948.
 Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 6th All India Jail Competition at Trans Stadium,
Ahmedabad.
 A street in the Canadian city of Markham is named after world-renowned musician AR Rahman.
 Leh in Ladakh is hosting the Mountain Bicycle World Cup competition 'UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup' in
India. India is hosting it for the first time.
 The 68th Nehru Trophy Boat Race is being held at Punnamada Lake in Alappuzha district in Kerala.
 New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme has announced his retirement from international cricket.

SAFF U-17 Championship


 The India U-17 boys will be looking to kickstart their SAFF U-17 Championship 2022 campaign on a
positive note in Sri Lanka, as they face Bhutan in their first match at the Racecourse International
Stadium in Colombo.
 This is the seventh edition of the championship which will be held in Sri Lanka.
 India had won the title last season in 2019 by defeating Nepal 7-0.

 Home Minister Amit Shah released the music and mascot of the 36th National Games in Ahmedabad.
The mascot is named as Savaj which in Gujarati means cub. The music is based on the theme of Ek

 The Union Government through APEDA organized an 'In-Store Export Promotion Show' in Dubai, United
Arab Emirates (UAE) for organic certified pineapples of Manipur among consumers.
 Recently, Annabelle M. Rayson, a Canadian student, was awarded the prestigious Stockholm Junior
Water Prize for the year 2022 for her research on ways to treat and prevent harmful algae blooms.
 The Cri-MAC(Crime Multi Agency Center) platform was launched in the year 2020 by the Ministry of
Home Affairs (MHA), which is operated by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
 Indian-origin Laxman Narasimhan has been appointed as the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of
coffee company Starbucks.
 The Government of Karnataka launched the Global Startup Challenge “VentuRISE” to support the growth
phase of startups in the manufacturing and sustainability sectors.
 On the lines of the National Capital Territory of Delhi in Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow will be made a State
Capital Territory.
 Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will be on a five-day visit to Mongolia and Japan. This will be the first visit
by an Indian Defense Minister to Mongolia.
 State Bank of India has launched the Cashback SBI Card for its customers, in which a mandatory
cashback of 5 percent will be available on the online shopping site. (Renewal charge of Rs.999 per

 Apeksha Fernandes has become the first Indian female player to reach the finals of the World Junior
Swimming Championships. She finished eighth in the final of the women's 200m butterfly at the ongoing
competition in Lima, Peru.
 Former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry died in a road accident at Charoti in Maharashtra's Palghar
district.

Ignited minds program


 In Ladakh, the Army's Fire and Fury Corps has also started the 'Ignited Minds Program' in Kargil to help
students prepare for medical and engineering entrance exams.
 The scheme was successfully launched in Leh last year.
 Under this joint campaign, the girls of Kargil were given Joint Entrance Examination – JEE. and will be
provided complete and free residential coaching for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test- (NEET).

National Teachers Day


 Every year 5 September is celebrated as Teacher's Day in India.
 Teacher's Day in India is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli
Radhakrishnan, the first Vice President, second President and educationist of India.
 Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on September 5, 1888 in Tiruttani, Tamil Nadu and became the
President of India in the year 1962 and held this position till the year 1967.
 Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was nominated 16 times for the Nobel Prize in Literature and 11 times for
the Nobel Peace Prize.
 He died on 16 April 1975 in Chennai.

across the country under the Pradhan Mantri Vidyalaya Yojana-PM-Shri for Emerging India.
 Britain's Foreign Minister Liz Truss has been elected the next Prime Minister of Britain and leader of the
Conservative Party. She will be the 15th Prime Minister of Britain. He defeated his rival Rishi Sunak by
57 percent of the votes. She will be Britain's third female prime minister after Theresa May and Margaret
Thatcher.
 UGC launched new research scholarships and research grant schemes on Teacher's Day. These
schemes include Savitribai Jyotirao Phule fellowship for single girl child, Dr. Radhakrishnan UGC post-
doctoral fellowship, superannuated faculty members fellowship, research grant for in-service faculty
members and Dr. D.S. Kothari Research Grant.
 Chief Justice Uday Umesh Lalit inaugurated the Citizen Service Center in New Delhi. It will provide free
legal services to the weaker sections of the society.
 Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pandey was honored with the honorary rank of General of Nepal Army
by Nepal's President Vidya Devi Bhandari at a function at her residence Sheetal Niwas.
 The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma has launched “Rural Backyard Pig Farming
Scheme”.

 People in Chile have rejected a proposal to replace the old charter with a new progressive constitution in
a referendum.
 Suresh Raina has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

India and Bangladesh


 Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held bilateral talks in New
Delhi.
 The two leaders jointly inaugurated the first unit of Maitree Super Thermal Power Project. The project is
being constructed under the Concessional Financing Scheme of India.
 Seven agreements were signed between the two countries on water resources, railways, science and
technology and space technology.
 Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the signing of an important agreement on 'Kushiara River
Water Sharing'.
 The Barak River splits into two rivers at the Indo-Bangladesh border - the Kushiara River and the Surma
River. Kushiyara starts flowing in the west direction and forms the boundary of the Indian state of Assam
and Sylhet district. After flowing some distance in Bangladesh, it is again confluenced with the Surma
River and this combined river is now called Meghna River.

Cyber Safe India Initiative


 National e-Governance Division as part of Cyber Safe India Initiative conducted 30th Chief Information
Security Officer (CISO) Deep-dive Training Program at Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA),
New Delhi.
 The Cyber Safe India initiative was launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology
in the year 2018.

 The Central Government has now named the road from India Gate to Rashtrapati Bhavan, which is
known as Rajpath, as 'Kartavya Path'. Rajpath is related to the British King George V.
 In Britain, Indian-origin lawyer Suella Braverman has been made Home Minister in the newly elected
cabinet of Prime Minister Liz Truss.
 US President Joe Biden has appointed Indian-American Attorney Arun Subramanian as District Judge for
the Southern District of New York. With Senate approval, he will be the first justice of South Asian
descent in a US district court.
 India's National Security Council Secretariat and the UK Government in collaboration with British
Aerospace Systems successfully designed and conducted cyber security exercises for 26 countries.
 Bharat Biotech's first nasally administered anti-Covid drug has received limited use in emergency
situations. It can be used for people above 18 years of age.
 Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that it will now be mandatory for 'all
passengers' traveling in a car to wear a seat belt.
 A two-day meeting of senior officials of the Quad countries concluded in New Delhi. Senior officials from
the foreign ministries of Australia, India, Japan and the US discussed regional and global developments.
 The Center has announced the formation of a national level committee to draft the National Cooperative
Policy. Under the chairmanship of former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu, this committee will have 47
members from across the country.
 Recently NASA has updated its 3D visualization 'Eyes on the Solar System' tool. This new and improved
system now makes interplanetary travel easier and more interactive than ever before.
 The National Green Tribunal has imposed environmental compensation of Rs 3,500 crore on West
Bengal for failing to manage solid and liquid waste.
 The alliance of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and L&T has bagged a contract worth Rs 860 crore from
NewSpace India Limited to manufacture five PSLV rockets.
 Former US President Barack Obama has won the Emmy Award for Best Narrator for his voice in the
Netflix documentary 'Our Great National Parks'.
 The first 'Homeopathy International Health Summit' was organized in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It was
organized by Burnett Homeopathy Pvt Ltd.
 Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held a meeting with Mongolian Defense Minister Saikhonbayer Gursed
in Mongolia's capital Ulaanbaatar.
 Liz Truss is the 56th Prime Minister of Britain and the third woman Prime Minister to lead the country. Liz
Truss's full name is Mary Elizabeth Truss.
 President Smt. Draupadi Murmu presented the National Teacher Awards-2022 to 45 most talented
teachers. Out of these 45 teachers, the headmaster of Eklavya Model Residential School, Gangyap,

 In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President has appointed
Justice Shri M. Duraiswami, the senior-most Judge of the Madras High Court, to perform the duties of the
office of the Chief Justice of the said High Court.
 A new i-STEM (Blueprint of Indian Science, Technology and Engineering Facilities) initiative named
“Women in Engineering, Science and Technology” was launched by Dr. Parvinder Maini, Scientific
Secretary, Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India on 5 September 2022

 President Draupadi Murmu has greeted the countrymen on the occasion of 'Karma Puja'. Karma is one of
the major festivals of Jharkhand. The main purpose of celebrating this festival is that sisters wish for the
happiness, prosperity and longevity of their brothers.
 Indian hockey team players PR Sreejesh, Harmanpreet Singh and Savita Poonia have been nominated
for the International Hockey Federation Award for the year 2021-22. FIH Men's Player Award to
Harmanpreet Singh, while P.R. Sreejesh and Savita Punia have been nominated for the Goalkeeper
Award.

Nutrition campaign
 According to the NITI Aayog report, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat have topped the major
states in implementing the Centre's flagship scheme, the POSHAN Abhiyaan.
 Sikkim is at the fore among the better performers among smaller states.
 The report has been released with the title 'Conserving progress at the level of nutrition in India:
Nutrition campaign in times of pandemic'.
 Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu topped the Union Territories.
 Punjab and Bihar stood at the bottom of the big states category in terms of complete implementation of
the POSHAN Abhiyaan.

 Uttar Pradesh, with 9.12 million cases as of the end of August, tops the number of disposal and
submission of cases through the e-prosecution portal managed by the central government under the
Digital India Mission. It is followed by Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
 The Union Cabinet has approved the policy of long-term leasing of railway land to implement the

 Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate 'Manthan', a three-day conference
focused on issues and challenges related to the infrastructure sector, to be held in Bengaluru.
 India's first LNG fueled green truck manufacturing plant was launched by Blue Energy Motors at Chakan,
Pune. It was inaugurated by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
 Bangladesh cricket team wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has announced his retirement from
T20 International cricket to focus on longer formats of cricket.
 Formula One Championship topper Max Verstappen won the Dutch Grand Prix. This is his fourth
consecutive win, the first in his Formula One career.
 Six-year-old Anishka Biyani won a gold medal at the Malaysia Age Group Rapid Chess Championship in
Kuala Lumpur.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose


 Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kartavya path of the Central Vista from Rashtrapati
Bhavan to India Gate.
 Shri Modi also unveiled a 28 feet tall statue (black granite) of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at India
Gate.
 This step is in line with the Prime Minister's second of the five vows for a new India in Amrit Kaal,
freedom from colonial mentality.

UNESCO Network of Learning Cities


 Recently, three cities of India have joined the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities. These
include two cities Thrissur and Nilambur in Kerala and Warangal in Telangana.

 Warangal is the second UNESCO recognition for Telangana. Earlier, Ramappa Temple in Mulugu
district was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

this list of UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.
 In the year 2022, 77 cities from 44 countries of the world including India have been included in this list.

 Recently a mysterious pneumonia outbreak in Argentina has been identified as 'Legionnaires'.
 Legionellosis is a pneumonia-like illness that varies in severity from mild febrile illness to a serious and
sometimes fatal form of pneumonia
 The causative agents in this are Legionella bacteria from water or cooling systems
 The disease is most commonly transmitted by inhalation of aerosols contaminated with contaminated
water, which is transmitted through air-conditioning cooling towers, evaporative condensers associated
with air conditioning and industrial cooling.

National Center for Disease Control


 Recently the Union Health Minister laid the foundation stone of the branches of National Center for
Disease Control in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tripura and Uttar
Pradesh.
 The National Center for Disease Control was formerly known as the National Institute of Communicable
Diseases.
 It was established in the year 1909 as the Central Malaria Bureau at Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh.
 It functions under the administrative control of the Director General of Health Services under the Ministry
of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Bhupen Hazarika
 On September 08, 2022, Google paid tribute to legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika by creating a doodle
in his honor on his 96th birthday.
 Bhupen Hazarika was born in the year 1926 in the small town of Sadiya in Tinsukia district of Assam.

 In 1939 itself, at the age of 12, Bhupen Hazarika sang the first song for the Assamese film Indramalati.
 Bhupen Hazarika was not limited to Assamese music only, but he also composed, wrote and sung for

 Bhupen Hazarika was awarded the National Award for Best Music Director in the year 1976, while he
was awarded the Padma Shri in the year 1977 and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in the year 1987.
 He also served as the President of Sangeet Natak Akademi from the year 1999-2004.
 Bhupen Hazarika was also awarded the Bharat Ratna in the year 2019.

Folk Drama Artist Padmashree Ram Chandra Manjhi


 In Bihar, Ram Chandra Manjhi, the famous artist of Bhojpuri folk drama "Launda Naach" passed away.
 He was born in the family of a weaker section of the society in village Tujharpur of Nagra block of Saran
district in Bihar.
 A recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Manjhi was also a coveted Padma Shri awardee in
the field of art. He was honored by President Ram Nath Kovind last year.
 Launda Naach is a major Bhojpuri folk art of Bihar in which songs, dance, humor, satire, are presented.
 In this art, men disguise themselves as women by wearing saris, blouses, long haired wigs during the
performance.

 Demise of Queen Elizabeth II


 Britain's Queen Elizabeth II passed away. She was 96 years old.
 The Queen was born on 21 April 1926. She served as the Queen of Britain for seven decades.
 She was the Queen of the UK and 14 other countries.
 The Queen got the throne only at the age of 25. Queen Elizabeth was crowned on 5 February 1952.
 Queen Elizabeth's full name was Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor.

PM T.B Mukt Bharat Abhiyan


 President Draupadi Murmu virtually launched the Prime Minister's T.B Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to re-
emphasize the country's mission of eradicating T.B by 2025.
 According to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, all countries have set a target of
eradicating TB by 2030, but the Government of India has set a target of eradicating TB by the year
2025.
 President Murmu also launched the 'Nikshaya 2.0' initiative on the occasion. It is a web portal which is a
platform for donors willing to provide various types of support to TB patients under treatment.

Human Development Index - 2022


 According to the 'Human Development Report 2021-22', India's rank in this list of 191 countries in the
Human Development Index has come down from 130 in the year 2020 to 132 in the year 2022.
 This report has been issued by UNDP since 1990.
 The theme of the Human Development Report, 2021-22 is "Uncertain Times, Unresolved Lives: Shaping
Our Future in a World of Change".

 India's HDI value in 2021 was 0.633, lower than the world average of 0.732.
 Sri Lanka (73rd), China (79th), Bhutan (127th) and Bangladesh (129th) are above India in this list. The
position of other neighboring countries such as Pakistan (161st), Nepal (143rd) and Myanmar (149th) is
also not good.
 Switzerland has been ranked first in the report. It is followed by Norway, Iceland, Hong Kong and

Indigenous stealth frigate 'Taragiri'


 The Navy will launch the indigenously built Nilgiri class radar evasion capable 'Taragiri Warship'.
 The warship has been built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited for the Navy.
 This warship is 149 meters long and 17.8 meters wide.
 The vessel is powered by a combination of two gas turbines and two main diesel engines.

Shri Tanot Mandir Complex Project


 Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of 'Shri Tanot Mandir
Complex Project' in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
 This project is being undertaken by the Union Ministry of Tourism, Government of India under the Border
Tourism Development Program.
 Under this project a waiting room, amphitheater, interpretation center, room for children and other
necessary facilities will be developed to promote tourism.
 Since the year 1965, BSF has taken charge of the worship and arrangement of this temple.

National Commission for Women (NCW)


 The National Commission for Women organized the 'Western Regional Counseling Meeting' at Gujarat
University.
 Ms. Rekha Sharma, Chairperson, NCW attended the consultation meeting as the Chief Guest.
 The National Commission for Women was constituted on 31 January 1992 under the chairmanship of
Jayanti Patnaik under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990.
 The commission consists of a chairman, a member secretary and five other members.
 The President of NCW is nominated by the Central Government.

World Suicide Prevention Day


 World Suicide Prevention Day is observed every year on 10 September.
 It was started by the International Association of Suicide Prevention (IASP) in the year 2003.
 This day is sponsored by the World Federation for Mental Health and World Health Organization.

Himalaya Day 2022
 Himalaya Day is celebrated every year on 9 September with an aim to preserve the Himalayan

 Asia's richest man Gautam Adani has surpassed Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to become the third richest
person in the world, according to Forbes' real time billionaires list. He became the richest person in India
with a net worth of USD 129.16 billion.
 Meanwhile, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani has a net worth of US$94 billion, becoming
the 8th richest person in the world and the second richest person in India.

US Open Tennis 2022


 In the final Grand Slam of the year, US Open tennis, world number one champion Inga Swiatek of
Poland has won the women's singles title. She defeated Tunisia's Ounce Jabour in the final.
 Swiatek is the first Polish female player to have won the US Open title. He has won ten titles including
three Grand Slam titles in his career so far.
 In mixed doubles, the Australian pair of Storm Sanders and John Pearce defeated the pair of Kirsten
Flipkens and Edouard Roger-Vaseline to win the title.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the International Dairy Federation's World Dairy Summit (IDF
WDS) 2022 at the India Expo Center and Mart in Greater Noida.
 The conference will run till September 15, in which industrialists, experts, farmers and policy planners
are participating.
 The theme of the conference is 'Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihoods'.
 Around 1500 delegates from 50 countries are participating in the conference.
 The first summit was held in India in 1974.

Ayurveda Day 2022


 All India Institute of Ayurveda has launched Ayurveda Day 2022 programme. This six-week program will
run till October 23.
 The Ministry of AYUSH has made All India Institute of Ayurveda as the nodal agency for Ayurveda Day
this year.
 Its theme is - Ayurveda Har Din Har Ghar.
 The Ministry of AYUSH celebrates Ayurveda Day every year on Dhanvantari Jayanti.
 This year this day will be celebrated on 23 October.

Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO)


 The Serious Fraud Investigation Office has arrested the alleged mastermind of a wide-ranging racket
involving setting up shell companies with Chinese links and supplying fake directors.
 It is a multi-disciplinary organization under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs,
Government of India, comprising experts in the financial sector, capital markets, accounting, forensic
audit, taxation, law, information technology, company law, customs and investigation. .

 Every year 12 September is observed by the United Nations as the International Day for South-South
Cooperation.

among developing countries.

 National Forest Martyrs Day is celebrated on 11 September.

 Justice Kamal Narayan (KN) Singh, who was the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, passed away in
Prayagraj. On 25 November 1991, he assumed the office of the Chief Justice of India. He retired on 13
December.

Kuno National Park


 The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi will release eight cheetahs brought from Namibia into the Kuno
National Park on his birthday on September 17.
 Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh was established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1981 and was later
given the status of a national park in 2018.
 It was named after the Kuno River, which is one of the major tributaries of the Chambal River.

Scheduled Tribe (ST) Category


 The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently approved the inclusion of
tribes of five states in the Scheduled Tribes category.
 The Union Cabinet has approved the inclusion of the tribes of Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil
Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh in the ST category. In this 12 communities have been included in
the ST list.
 Uttar Pradesh - The cabinet has included 'Gonds' community in the Bhadohi (earlier Sant Ravidas
Nagar) district of Uttar Pradesh state along with its five sub-castes (Dhuria, Nayak, Ojha, Pathari and
Rajgond) in the Scheduled Tribes list of Uttar Pradesh. To do so, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has
approved the proposal.
 Himachal Pradesh - The Hati or Hatti community living in the Trans-Giri region within the Sirmaur district
of Himachal Pradesh has been included in the Scheduled Tribes list in the state.
 Tamil Nadu - The proposal of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to include the Narikoorvan community of the
state of Tamil Nadu in the Kurivikkaran community has also been approved.
 Karnataka - The 'Betta-Kuruba' community of the state of Karnataka will now be known as synonymous
with the 'Kadu Kuruba' community.
 Chhattisgarh - The Union Cabinet has approved the inclusion of 12 communities in the Scheduled
Tribes (ST) category, including Binjhiya Bhuyan, Bhuyan, Bhuyan and Bharia of the state of
Chhattisgarh.

 Every year 15 September 15th is celebrated as 'Engineer's Day' in the country.
 Engineer's Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of the eminent engineer of India, Dr.
Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, who is known as the 'Vishwakarma' of modern India.
 M. Visvesvaraya was born on September 15, 1861 at a place called 'Muddenahalli' in Mysore
(Karnataka).
 Dr. Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya is also known as the master of dam design. One of his most notable
projects is the Krishna Raja Sagar Lake and Dam, which is located in Karnataka.
 In the year 1955, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest honor.
 He was also awarded the British Knighthood Award.

Hindi Diwas
 Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year on 14 September in the country.
 Apart from 14 September, 'World Hindi Day' is celebrated on 10 January.
 Hindi, an Indo-Aryan language written in the Devanagari script, was recognized as the official language
of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.
 India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru started it in 1949 and decided to celebrate Hindi Diwas on

 World Ozone Day is celebrated every year on 16 September to mark the signing of the Montreal
Protocol which came into force on this day in 1987.
 The theme of World Ozone Day 2022 is "Montreal Protocol @ 35: Global Cooperation to Protect Life on

 India, as a party to the Montreal Protocol since June 1992, has been successfully implementing the
Montreal Protocol, projects and actions to gradually eliminate substances that damage the ozone layer,
in line with the Protocol's phased program.
 India ceased production of chlorofluorocarbons, carbon tetrachloride, halons, methyl bromide and
methyl chloroform for controlled use on 1 January 2010 in accordance with the Montreal Protocol
schedule.
 Ozone is a gas consisting of three atoms of oxygen which is found in very small amounts in the
atmosphere.
 Ozone gas is found in the stratosphere as a very thin and transparent layer.
 It accounts for 90 percent of all the ozone in the atmosphere.

Project Cheetah
 Prime Minister Narendra Modi released cheetahs at Kuno National Park in Sheopur district of Madhya
Pradesh.
 Eight cheetahs have been brought to India as part of the world's largest inter-continental migration
project. There are five female cheetahs and three male cheetahs.
 The cheetah was declared extinct in India in 1952.

Rakhigarhi
 The world's largest museum on Harappan culture is currently being set up at Rakhigarhi, Haryana.
 The museum will also have an open-air theater and a library.
 Rakhigarhi village was part of the Indus Valley Civilization from 2600 to 1900 BC.
 The two villages Rakhi Khas and Rakhi Sahapur have archeological remains of the Indus Valley site.
 It was excavated for the first time in 1969. It is currently the largest settlement of the Indus Valley

District Disability Rehabilitation Centers (DDRC)


 The District Disability Rehabilitation Centers (DDRCs) spread across the country have been providing
effective rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities for the past two decades.
 These centers are jointly run by the District Management Team headed by the DM/Collector and a
reputed NGO (usually the Indian Red Cross Society).
 To enhance their services, a model DDRC has been conceptualized by the Department of
Empowerment of Disability, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
 In the first phase, nine such models DDRC, Badaun, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Balaghat, Golaghat, Ahmedabad,
Amravati, Kullu and Rampur have been upgraded to model DDRC level.

Institute is a specialized regional intergovernmental organization serving the countries of the United

Lassa fever
 Despite the government's measures to reduce the spread of the viral infection across the country, 171
people have died due to Lassa fever in Nigeria.
 Lassa fever is an acute viral hemorrhagic fever caused by the Lassa virus, which belongs to the
Arenaviridae family.

 Maharashtra Tourism Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said that the Maharashtra Tourism Department
will propose to rename the Daulatabad Fort near Aurangabad city to its old name 'Devagiri'.
 According to historians, the name of the fort was changed to Daulatabad by Mohammad Tughlaq in the
14th century.
 This fort was built in 1187 by the Yadava dynasty and was known as Devagiri.

 It is jointly published by the Z/Yen Group in London and the China Development Institute in Shenzhen.
 New York has topped the 32nd edition of the Global Financial Centers Index as the world's most
preferred financial center. It is followed by London and Singapore respectively.
 New York has retained the top spot for the past four years.
 Singapore has secured the third rank, leaving Hong Kong behind. At the same time, Hong Kong is in
fourth place. San Francisco was ranked fifth in this ranking.
 In India, New Delhi and Mumbai are ranked 68th and 7th respectively.

Kigali Amendment
 US lawmakers recently voted to ratify the 'Kigali Amendment'.
 The US Senate ratified the 2016 Kigali amendment to the 1987 Montreal Protocol climate treaty and
decided to reduce the use and production of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
 The Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol is a legally binding international agreement that aims to
gradually phase out the consumption and production of HFCs.

 Recently the post-mortem of comedian Raju Srivastava was done using a new technique called virtual
autopsy.
 Virtual Autopsy or Vertopsy is a newer post-mortem technique that does not involve dissection.
 The postmortem is done using hi-tech digital X-rays and CT-scans.
 Presently, AIIMS Delhi is the only institute which is doing Virtual Autopsy in South East Asia for the last
two years.

Haifa Day
 Every year 23 September is celebrated as Haifa Day by the Indian Army.
 The main objective of Haifa Day is to show respect to the Indian soldiers who fought in the Battle of
Haifa.
 The Battle of Haifa took place on September 23, 1918, in which soldiers from Jodhpur, Mysore and
Hyderabad, who were part of the 15th Imperial Service Cavalry Brigade, participated in the First World
War on behalf of the Allies under German and Turkish-held Israel. The 'city of Haifa' was liberated.
 In honor of the soldiers who fought in this war, the Government of India re-named the famous Teen
Murti Memorial in Delhi as Teen Murti Haifa Memorial.

 International Sign Language Day is organized every year on 23 September to raise awareness about

 The main objective of this global movement is to put moral pressure on policy-makers, so that they take
action to limit 'global warming'.

 Recently Breakthrough Awards 2023 were presented to individuals who made significant contributions to
scientific development.
 The awards are international awards given under three categories – mathematics, fundamental physics
and life sciences and recognize scientific progress in these fields.
 The award was formed in 2010 by a group of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs – Milner (venture capitalist),
Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, and Google's Sergey Brin.

Antyodaya Diwas
 To mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya in India, 25 September is celebrated
every year as Antyodaya Diwas.
 Antyodaya means "uplift of the poorest of the poor" or "uplift of the last man".
 The day was declared by the Government of India on September 25, 2014 and has been officially
celebrated since the year 2015.
 Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay was born on 25 September 1916 in Nagla Chandrabhan village of Mathura
district.
 The philosophy presented by him is called 'Integral Humanism' whose aim was to present an 'indigenous
socio-economic model' in which human beings are at the center of development.
 Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay opposed both Western 'capitalist individualism' and 'Marxist socialism'.

 President Draupadi Murmu inaugurated the Integrated Cryogenic Engine Manufacturing Plant of

 The district administration of Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu is using a 'hyper local' method called 'tamirases'
to rejuvenate the 'Thamirabarani River'.
 It is a district level initiative aimed at restoration of social ecosystem of Tamiraparani river bank.
 Thamirabarani River, also known as Tamraparni River or Porunai River, is a perennial river flowing in
Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts of Tamil Nadu state.
 It begins in the Agasthyamala hills in the Western Ghats. Then flowing in the eastern direction, it flows
into the Gulf of Mannar near Thiruvaikundam (Srivaikuntam).

 The active vacancies on the 'National Career Service Portal' have exceeded four lakh 82 thousand.
 Prime Minister Narendra Modi started this portal in July 2015.

 Telangana's flower festival Bathukamma began recently, with a large number of women participating in
the festivities across the state.

Popular Front of India


 The Union Home Ministry has banned Popular Front of India for 5 years.
 The ban was imposed based on the recommendations of the state governments of Uttar Pradesh,
Karnataka and Gujarat.
 The ban does not include the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), which was created within the PFI
to focus on political issues.
 SDPI is not banned as it is a registered political party and comes under the purview of Election
Commission of India.

Abode of the Unicorns


 A memorial made of ashes collected from rhino horns was recently unveiled at the Kaziranga National
Park in Assam.
 The monument with three rhinoceros statues has been named "Abode of the Unicorns". It has a male
rhinoceros, a female rhinoceros and a calf.
 These idols are made by sculptor Biju Das. The statues of forest guards have been carved by Biren
Singha.

'Captain Fantastic'
 Football's biggest governing body FIFA has made a special documentary on the career of India's great
football player and captain Sunil Chhetri.
 Its name is 'Captain Fantastic' which is released on 28 September.
 FIFA wrote, "You know all about Ronaldo and Messi, now learn the story of the third highest scorer in
active men's internationals. Captain Fantastic is now available on FIFA+.

World Rabies Day


 World Rabies Day is observed globally on 28 September every year.
 The day is celebrated globally to mark the death anniversary of French biologist, microbiologist and
chemist, Louis Pasteur, who developed the first rabies vaccine.
 It is the only global day to raise awareness for the prevention of rabies.

UNESCO-Mondiacult 2022 World Conference


 The Indian delegation, chaired by the Minister of State for Culture, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, will
represent the UNESCO-Mondiacult 2022 World Conference to be held in Mexico City from September
28 to 30, 2022.
 The conference is being held 24 years after UNESCO's World Conference on Cultural Policies for
Development held in Stockholm (Sweden) in 1998.
 This is the third such conference and forty years after the first Mondiacult World Conference on Cultural
Policies organized by UNESCO in 1982 in Mexico City (Mexico).

Discovery of ancient archaeological remains in Bandhavgarh Forest Sanctuary


 In a major discovery, ASI has unearthed archaeological remains in Bandhavgarh Forest Reserve in
Madhya Pradesh.
 During this discovery, 26 ancient temples/relics from the Kalachuri period (9th century CE to 11th
century CE), 26 caves (2nd century CE to 5th century CE mostly related to Buddhism), 2 monasteries, 2

stupas, 24 Brahmi inscriptions ( 2nd century CE to 5th century CE), 46 sculptures, 20 scattered relics
and 19 water formations (from 2nd to 15th centuries CE) have been found.
 Among the 46 idols there is also a Varaha idol, which is one of the largest idols.
 The remains or things that have been unearthed are related to the reign of King Sri Bhimsen, Maharaja
Pothasiri and Bhattadeva.
 The inscriptions also mention places like Kaushambi, Mathura, Pavta (mountain), Vejbharda and
Sapatnairika.

 Every year 29 September is celebrated as World Heart Day.
 The theme of this year's Heart Day is 'Use Heart for Every Heart'.
 It calls on people from all over the world to unite for the prevention of heart diseases.

Global Innovation Index - 2022


 India has been ranked 40th in the World Intellectual Property Organization's Global Innovation Index -
2022.
 Switzerland has retained the first position for the 12th year in a row. It is followed by the United States,
Sweden, United Kingdom and Netherlands respectively.
 India, which was ranked 81 in the Global Innovation Index in 2015, has now moved up to 40th position.
 The World Intellectual Property Organization is the global forum for intellectual property (IP) services,
policy, information and cooperation. It was established in 1967.
 It is a self-financing agency of the United Nations with 193 member states. Its headquarter is in Geneva
(Switzerland).

Fourth Tiger Reserve of Uttar Pradesh


 Recently, Uttar Pradesh (UP) approved the notification of the state's fourth tiger reserve at Ranipur
Wildlife Sanctuary in Chitrakoot district.
 This will be the 54th Tiger Reserve of India. Guru Ghasidas National Park of Chhattisgarh is the 53rd
Tiger Reserve of India.
 Although the Ranipur Wildlife Sanctuary itself does not host tigers, it is frequented by tigers from the
neighboring Panna Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh.
 Ranipur Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1977.
 The new Tiger Reserve has tropical deciduous forests and fauna like tigers, leopards, spotted deer,
sambar and chinkara.

International Translation Day


 Every year 30 September is celebrated as 'International Translation Day'.
 Officially the first International Translation Day was celebrated in the year 2017.
 The theme of International Translation Day, 2022 is 'A World Without Barrier'.
 On 30 September, St. Jerome's death anniversary was chosen as a tribute to him.
 St. Jerome is a Bible translator, known as the patron saint of translators.

 The repo rate, the rate at which the RBI lends money to commercial banks, has been increased by 50
