INS 'Vikrant'
The Prime Minister dedicated the first indigenously built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant to the nation.
Built at the Cochin Shipyard, the construction of this aircraft carrier has cost Rs 20,000 crore.
According to the Indian Navy, the full displacement of the long carrier (262M) is approximately 45,000
tonnes.
Vikrant has 14 decks with 2,300 coaches that can carry around 1,500 soldiers.

Nutrition campaign
According to the NITI Aayog report, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat have topped the major
states in implementing the Centre's flagship scheme, the POSHAN Abhiyaan.
Sikkim is at the fore among the better performers among smaller states.
The report has been released with the title 'Conserving progress at the level of nutrition in India:
Nutrition campaign in times of pandemic'.
Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu topped the Union Territories.
Punjab and Bihar stood at the bottom of the big states category in terms of complete implementation of
the POSHAN Abhiyaan.

Legionnaires
Recently a mysterious pneumonia outbreak in Argentina has been identified as 'Legionnaires'.
Legionellosis is a pneumonia-like illness that varies in severity from mild febrile illness to a serious and
sometimes fatal form of pneumonia
The causative agents in this are Legionella bacteria from water or cooling systems
The disease is most commonly transmitted by inhalation of aerosols contaminated with contaminated
water, which is transmitted through air-conditioning cooling towers, evaporative condensers associated
with air conditioning and industrial cooling.
Bhupen Hazarika
On September 08, 2022, Google paid tribute to legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika by creating a doodle
in his honor on his 96th birthday.
Bhupen Hazarika was born in the year 1926 in the small town of Sadiya in Tinsukia district of Assam.

In 1939 itself, at the age of 12, Bhupen Hazarika sang the first song for the Assamese film Indramalati.
Bhupen Hazarika was not limited to Assamese music only, but he also composed, wrote and sung for
several Bengali and Hindi films.
Bhupen Hazarika was awarded the National Award for Best Music Director in the year 1976, while he
was awarded the Padma Shri in the year 1977 and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in the year 1987.
He also served as the President of Sangeet Natak Akademi from the year 1999-2004.
Bhupen Hazarika was also awarded the Bharat Ratna in the year 2019.

Engineer's Day
Every year 15 September 15th is celebrated as 'Engineer's Day' in the country.
Engineer's Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of the eminent engineer of India, Dr.
Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, who is known as the 'Vishwakarma' of modern India.
M. Visvesvaraya was born on September 15, 1861 at a place called 'Muddenahalli' in Mysore
(Karnataka).
Dr. Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya is also known as the master of dam design. One of his most notable
projects is the Krishna Raja Sagar Lake and Dam, which is located in Karnataka.
In the year 1955, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest honor.
He was also awarded the British Knighthood Award.
Hindi Diwas
Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year on 14 September in the country.
Apart from 14 September, 'World Hindi Day' is celebrated on 10 January.
Hindi, an Indo-Aryan language written in the Devanagari script, was recognized as the official language
of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.
India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru started it in 1949 and decided to celebrate Hindi Diwas on
14 September every year.

Project Cheetah
Prime Minister Narendra Modi released cheetahs at Kuno National Park in Sheopur district of Madhya
Pradesh.
Eight cheetahs have been brought to India as part of the world's largest inter-continental migration
project. There are five female cheetahs and three male cheetahs.
The cheetah was declared extinct in India in 1952.
Rakhigarhi
The world's largest museum on Harappan culture is currently being set up at Rakhigarhi, Haryana.
The museum will also have an open-air theater and a library.
Rakhigarhi village was part of the Indus Valley Civilization from 2600 to 1900 BC.
The two villages Rakhi Khas and Rakhi Sahapur have archeological remains of the Indus Valley site.
It was excavated for the first time in 1969. It is currently the largest settlement of the Indus Valley
Civilization.

Lassa fever
Despite the government's measures to reduce the spread of the viral infection across the country, 171
people have died due to Lassa fever in Nigeria.
Lassa fever is an acute viral hemorrhagic fever caused by the Lassa virus, which belongs to the
Arenaviridae family.
It was first discovered in 1969 in Nigeria.

Daulatabad Fort
Maharashtra Tourism Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said that the Maharashtra Tourism Department
will propose to rename the Daulatabad Fort near Aurangabad city to its old name 'Devagiri'.
According to historians, the name of the fort was changed to Daulatabad by Mohammad Tughlaq in the
14th century.
This fort was built in 1187 by the Yadava dynasty and was known as Devagiri.

Kigali Amendment
US lawmakers recently voted to ratify the 'Kigali Amendment'.
The US Senate ratified the 2016 Kigali amendment to the 1987 Montreal Protocol climate treaty and
decided to reduce the use and production of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
The Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol is a legally binding international agreement that aims to
gradually phase out the consumption and production of HFCs.

'Moonlighting'
IT company Wipro has fired 300 of its employees on charges of moonlighting.
Recently, Swiggy has announced the first Moonlighting policy in the industry.
If an employee works secretly in his permanent job as well as elsewhere, then it is technically called
'Moonlighting'. In simple words it is also called a side job.
Haifa Day
Every year 23 September is celebrated as Haifa Day by the Indian Army.
The main objective of Haifa Day is to show respect to the Indian soldiers who fought in the Battle of
Haifa.
The Battle of Haifa took place on September 23, 1918, in which soldiers from Jodhpur, Mysore and
Hyderabad, who were part of the 15th Imperial Service Cavalry Brigade, participated in the First World
War on behalf of the Allies under German and Turkish-held Israel. The 'city of Haifa' was liberated.
In honor of the soldiers who fought in this war, the Government of India re-named the famous Teen
Murti Memorial in Delhi as Teen Murti Haifa Memorial.

L-69 Group
The members of the L-69 group held a high-level meeting in New York to discuss comprehensive
reforms in the United Nations Security Council.
The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General
Assembly, was chaired by Ralph Gonsalves, President of the Group and Prime Minister of St. Vincent
and the Grenadines. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar was the co-organizer of this meeting.
The L-69 includes developing countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Pacific, which aspire to
broaden the nature of the Security Council.

Antyodaya Diwas
To mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya in India, 25 September is celebrated
every year as Antyodaya Diwas.
Antyodaya means "uplift of the poorest of the poor" or "uplift of the last man".
The day was declared by the Government of India on September 25, 2014 and has been officially
celebrated since the year 2015.
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay was born on 25 September 1916 in Nagla Chandrabhan village of Mathura
district.
The philosophy presented by him is called 'Integral Humanism' whose aim was to present an 'indigenous
socio-economic model' in which human beings are at the center of development.
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay opposed both Western 'capitalist individualism' and 'Marxist socialism'.

Bathukamma festival
Telangana's flower festival Bathukamma began recently, with a large number of women participating in
the festivities across the state.
Bathukamma festival starts from Pitru Paksha i.e. Amavasya of Bhado (also known as Amavasya of
Mahalaya) and ends on the Ashtami day of Navratri.
According to Shalivahan Samvat (Saka Samvat - 78 AD), this festival starts from Amavasya Tithi and
continues till Durgashtami.

'Captain Fantastic'
Football's biggest governing body FIFA has made a special documentary on the career of India's great
football player and captain Sunil Chhetri.
Its name is 'Captain Fantastic' which is released on 28 September.
FIFA wrote, "You know all about Ronaldo and Messi, now learn the story of the third highest scorer in
active men's internationals. Captain Fantastic is now available on FIFA+.
