Security
O unctionaI-based profiIe settings allow network administrators to create new profiles and associate
what type of information is available for those functions, providing more control of network access;
profiles can be set at a global or regional level to give fine-grained permissions within the network,
delivering more secure access to the network at all support levels
O #&S authentication of network management administrators can be configured to use the
industry-standard RADUS protocol to authenticate network management administrators; this approach
provides simplified and standardized user administration
O irewaII traversaI remote agents enable management data to securely transverse firewalls via a
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection; once the system is connected, all management traffic uses
the SSL tunnel to securely traverse the nternet between the PCM+ server and agent, allowing for the
full management of devices behind a firewall at the remote site

The HP OpenView suite is a comprehensive business-driven management solution that monitors, controls,
reports on, and automates corrective actions for the health of all parts of a managed infrastructure. This industry-
leading software provides a service management environment that enables monitoring of service level obj ectives.
A new member of this product suite, HP OpenView NonStop Server Performance Management is an out-of-the-
box solution for seamlessly integrating the management of HP NonStop servers with OpenView Operations
software. A natural extension of OpenView software, this new product offers NonStop server customers true end-
to-end enterprise management.
OpenView NonStop Server Performance Management offers real-time monitoring and trend reporting. t provides
comprehensive and robust manageability features along with Web browser support for monitoring critical
performance events. t is a highly flexible solution for measuring service level standards and for planning your
future business needs. OpenView NonStop Server Performance Management includes components installed on
both the NonStop server and the OpenView Operations management server for Windows or UNX systems.
The NonStop server component monitors the status and health of the NonStop server and interfaces with the
management server component using TCP/P. OpenView NonStop Server Performance Management also
integrates HP OpenView Reporter.
The combination of OpenView Operations and OpenView NonStop Server Performance Management software
improves the management of large, cross-platform enterprise solutions such as HP Zero Latency Enterprise
(ZLE) solutions. t allows users to create specific business views for a given enterprise solution. Business views
not only enable operations staff to detect business function problems quickly, but they also provide a systematic
approach to isolating the actual cause of a problem, associating that problem with a particular service.
HP OpenView was the former name for a Hewlett Packard product family that consists
of network and systems management products. n 2007, HP OpenView was rebranded when it
became part of the HP Software Division. HP OpenView software provided large-scale system and
network management of an organization's T infrastructure. t included optional modules from HP as
well as third- party management software, which connected within a common framework and
communicated with one another. The products are now available as various HP products, marketed
through the HP Software Division.

[edit]History
The foundational OpenView product was Network Node Manager (NNM), network monitoring
software based on SNMP.
[2]
NNM was used to manage networks and could be used in conjunction
with other management software, such as CiscoWorks.
[3]

HP has a history of acquiring network management software companies. n April 2004, it bought
Novadigm and its Radia suite.
[4]
n December 2005, it acquired Peregrine Systems with its T asset
and service management software and integrated it into HP OpenView.
[5]
n November 2006, HP
completed its purchase of Mercury nteractiveCorp., subsequently integrated Mercury application and
software life-cycle management products into the HP Software & Solutions portfolio.
[6]
n September
2007, HPacquired Opsware.
[7][8]

n early 2007, alongside the integration of Mercury nteractive, Peregrine
Systems and Opsware products, HP OpenView products were rebranded under the HP Software
Division business, and the OpenView and Mercury names were phased out. The HP OpenCall name
continues as part of the HP Software Division business.

While it is not an actual "user group", the TRC is an online forum about former OpenView and HP
Software products.

A new user group, the HP Software Solutions Community, officially launched
publicly in April 2010 and includes all former software-related communities.
