4. If 21st April, 2024 is Sunday, which day of the week will 21st July, 2024 be?
Answer: Sunday
Solution:
Count the number of days between April 21 and July 21.
April 21 to April 30 = 30 − 21 = 9 days
April 30 to May 31 = 31 days
May 31 to June 30 = 30 days
June 30 to July 21 = 21 days
From April 21 to July 21, there are 9 + 31 + 30 + 21 = 91 days.
Divide the number of days by 7.
91 days
= 13 𝑟. 0
7 𝑑𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑎 𝑤𝑒𝑒𝑘
The quotient is the number of weeks that will pass or the number of times that it is going to
be the same day as April 21st (Sunday). The remainder indicates how many times we move
from Sunday to the next day. The remainder is 0. Hence, it will be a Sunday.

14. The numbers below follow the arithmetic sequence, what is the 8th number?
301, 289, 277, 265, 253, …
Answer: 217
Solution:
An arithmetic sequence means that the difference between a number and the next one is the
same for any pair in the sequence.
To put it simply, you are constantly adding or subtracting the same number.
301 to 289 is 301 – 12 = 289
289 to 277 is 289 – 12 = 277
277 to 265 is 277 – 12 = 265
265 to 253 is 265 – 12 = 253

To get the 8th term, subtract 12 three times.

253 – 12 – 12 – 12 = 217
Alternative Solution:
𝑎𝑛 = 𝑎1 + (𝑛 − 1) × 𝑑
𝑎1 = first number in the sequence, 301
𝑑 = difference between 2 adjacent numbers, 289-301= -12
𝑛 = place or location of the number in the sequence, 8th
𝑎8 = 301 + (8 − 1) × (−12)
𝑎8 = 301 + (7) × (−12)
𝑎8 = 301 + (−84)
𝑎8 = 217
