5. Health Effects
Inhalation
Granular grade material does not have a significant inhalation hazard. Inhalation of
may cause irritation to the respiratory organs. Symptoms: coughing and shortness of
breath.
Ingestion
Low toxicity chemical. Ingestion causes irritation of the mucous membranes due to hea
hydrolysis. Large amounts can cause gastrointestinal problems, nausea, vomiting and
abdominal pain.
Skin Contact
Solid calcium chloride might cause mild skin irritation (dry skin). Aqueous solutions
solid in contact with wet skin might cause severe irritation or burns.
Eye Contact
Causes mechanical abrasion or burns from heat of hydrolysis and chloride irritation.
Inhalation
Remove source of contamination or move victim to fresh air, give artificial respirati

Skin Contact
Remove contaminated clothing. Flush skin with warm running water. Remove contaminated
clothing and shoes.Seek medical attention.
Eye Contact
Immediately flush the contaminated eyes with water holding the eyelids open. Seek med
attentionimmediately.
8. Explosion
Stability: Stable under ordinary conditions. Might absorb moisture from the air
turn into solution if kept in open containers.
Hazardous Decomposition Products: When heated to decomposition produces toxic
chlorine fumes. In the presence of sulphuric or phosphoric acids might form
hydrogen chloride.
Hazardous Polymerization: None.
Incompatibilities: Methyl vinyl ether, water, zinc, bromine trifluoride, mixture
of lime and boric acid, barium chloride, and 2-furan percarboxylic acid. Metals
will corrode in aqueous calcium chloride solutions especially aluminium (alloys)
and brass.
Store in a tightly closed container in cool, dry and ventilated area. Protect against
mechanical damage. Wet calcium chloride and concentrated solutions could corrode stee
tanks. When exposed calcium chloride will absorb moisture and form a solution. Contai
previously used to store calcium chloride may be hazardous when empty since they cont
product residues and leftovers.
Based on the current available information for Calcium Chloride anhydrous, the materi
will not biodegrade or bioaccumulate.
Environmental Toxicity: The LC50/96-hour values for fish are > 100 mg/l.
13. Disposal
Product that can not be used for recovery or recycling should be managed by an
appropriate and approved waste disposal facility. Processing, use or contamination of
this product may change the waste management options. Disposal regulations may differ
country / state / region basis. Dispose of container and unused contents in accordanc
with local requirements.
Not regulated.
