The Hazards of Traveling by a Public Transport

Public transport is supposed to provide convenience to its users but it is sad to see how
passengers experience discomfort by traveling on it. Many a times, I have travelled through a
public transport, but it was a total disaster due to safety concerns, poor condition of the vehicle
and lack of consideration for the passengers. First, the major issue I faced was exposure to
criminal activities. This morning, I was surprised to see that my wallet and cell phone was
missing from my bag as soon as I got off-board the wagon. Some pick-pocket had stolen my
precious belongings. Secondly, the condition of the vehicles is awful. Like the other day, as I
was rushing to my office for a meeting at 8:00am through a taxi which did not even have an AC.
It punctured and I spent 30min waiting for the driver to fix it, and take me to my destination.
Needless to say, I was embarrassed in front of my boss for being late. Also, it is sad to see that
the public transport drivers seem to have no consideration for the passengers’ comfort. For
instance, recently, when my uncle had to use a public transport, the driver won’t stop smoking.
My uncle has asthma but the driver didn’t stop smoking until his cigarette finished, despite my
uncle’s request for not smoking. Hence, it is safe to say that the use of public transport is more of
a hazard rather than a comfort.
