Skeleton of a Basic Paragraph (150-200 WL)

1. Topic Sentence (Main Point)

2. Supporting Point (3)
3. Supporting Detail (1-2 examples per supporting point)

Introduction:

2 sentences ONLY! Start with a general idea (sentence 1), and then move to the specific (sentence 2)
which will be your topic sentence. Optionally, you could write only 1 sentence, as long as you can
manage stating your main point.

Body:

Supporting point 1 ------ supporting details 1-2

Supporting point 2 ------ supporting details 1-2

Supporting point 3 ------ supporting details 1-2

Conclusion:

One – liner!

Your conclusion should be three things:

1. It should be married to your topic sentence (introductory ideas)

2. It must not be a new idea
3. It should be written using new vocabulary and structure which means that you must not repeat
the same words and structures you used in introduction.
