1 GENERAL
The purpose of this document is to provide the requirements for the design of the corrosion
treatment facilities as well as supply requirements for the UBETA.
This document shall be followed in conjunction with the GS EP COR 164 Ref. [4] and “Corrosion
Inhibitor Selection” Ref.[1].

2 SCOPE
The scope of this document covers only the corrosion treatment facilities of Ubeta Production
Cluster (UPC). This document does not cover the requirements for the other chemical treatment
facilities of UPC.

6 CORROSION TREATMENT FACILITIES

The injection system shall be designed to assure the maximum injection rate at each injection point,
including all pressure losses along the injection system.
The injection system shall be designed to assure a reliable injection rate down to 10% of the
maximum injection rate and with an injection pump designed in accordance with GS EP PVV 814
Ref.[6].
6.1 Flowmeters
A flowmeter shall be installed on each injection line. These flowmeters shall have the capability to
measure flowrates in the ranges of those mentioned in Corrosion Inhibitor Selection Ref.[1].
6.2 Storage Tank
The volume of storage shall guarantee an injection of 3 weeks minimum at the nominal injection
rate as per GS EP COR 163 Ref.[3].
Based on the maximum injection rate, the maximum predicted flow rate of gas during the whole
production period, is expected to be 255.84 L/day CI to be injected to achieve required average
concentration of 15L/MSm3 as per Corrosion Inhibitor Selection Ref.[1]; hence, the volume of the
storage tank shall be 5.4 m3.
The tank shall be equipped with an inspection hole as per GS EP PVV 814 Ref. [6].
No blanketing is required as the chemical is not volatile, oxygen or water sensitive.
Reference shall be made to “Corrosion Inhibitor Tank Datasheet” Ref.[2] for the storage tank of
UBETA corrosion treatment facility.
6.3 Injection pumps
The pump sizing shall allow the maximum injection rate of 10.66 L/h to achieve the maximum CI
concentration of 25L/MSm3 as per GS EP COR 163 Ref.[3].
Injection pump redundancy is mandatory to ensure availability requirements.
The minimum pump frequency shall be 1 pulse/s.
Injection flowmeters and detection of injection shutdown shall be installed.
6.4 Injection nozzles
Injection nozzles shall include a quill which extremity is positioned at the optimal location inside the
piping to assure the optimal delivery to the water phase.
Injection nozzles shall be equipped with a device to prevent any accidental backup of effluent into
the inhibitor injection system and be fitted with a device enabling their installation and removal
without previous decompression or draining of the system on which they are installed.
Injection nozzles shall be installed at least 10 meters upstream of the system to be protected, in a
region of strong turbulence to favour the dispersal of the product.
6.5 Piping and valves
All piping components shall be in accordance with the relevant piping classes from GS EP PVV
112 Ref.[5] and comply with GS EP SAF 228 Ref.[7] requirements.

Flow-induced vibrations shall not impair the skid framework in test or operational conditions.
6.6 Use of diluted products
Diluted products may be used when the injection rate of the pure commercial product at the injection
point is lower than 5 l/day, in order to assure this 5 l/day minimum flow rate with the diluted product.
The solvent shall be adapted to the inhibitor used (long term stability of the mixture) and to the
fluids to be inhibited.
