Formats of Emerging Technology

 ET’s are new technologies that are currently developing or will be developed over the next 5 to
10 years and will have significant infact on the business and social environment.
 The expression emerging technologies is used to cover such old technologies to new and
potentially powerful technologies as genetic manipulation, artificial intelligence, alternate energy
and nanotechnology.

Characteristics of ET

 Uncertainty is high: vulnerability and vagueness remains to a great extent un-investigated in

scientometric examines, be that as it may. The few endeavors made thusly tend to overlap with
those as of now talked about for the assessment of the rationality characteristic, since the main
focus has been on the estimation of the decrease of vulnerability in scientific communication
rather than on vulnerability and equivocalness related with the potential effect or employments of
emerging advances.
 ET Network effects: The value of an ET users are increasing.
 Unseen social and ethical implications: It is impossible to see how technology will be
applied to situations that have not yet occurred.
 ET Costs: System that gauges the expenses exhausted to execute another innovation,
methodology or convention versus the advantages picked up from doing as such. More often than
not, money saving advantage investigation centers around the financial expense of an innovation
and the potential benefit. Be that as it may, we can likewise consider money saving advantage
examination as the potential traps of the innovation that may at last reason mischief to our general
public, or the non-fiscal advantages, for example, improving the wellbeing and prosperity of
people.
 ET is limited to creator or inventor country (availability of ET)
 ETs are not fully investigated and researched

Trends of Emerging Technologies

Convergence of AI, machine learning and deep learning

Figure 1.1 Artificial Intelligence

AI, machine learning, and deep learning in business applications. AI will deliver first-line-of-response
business insights from data it analyzed with a baseline of algorithms. As computers and other mechanized
appliances observe anomalies that conflict with baseline assumptions, they will refine their knowledge
bases with the help of machine learning. If the insights yielded continue to be incomplete, they will
invoke a deeper set of algorithms known as deep learning to operate on the data. The goal is greater
accuracy of AI at all levels by getting AI and learning technologies to work together for best results.

Drones and drone ops centers

Drones are still highly regulated and limited in what they can do in the US, more companies will start
using drones and even establish drone operations centers with managers and pilots. The companies most
likely to use drones will include those with logistic challenges such as areas of terrain that are risky or
difficult to traverse or agencies and/or insurance companies that need to oversee disaster and accident
sites. If a company wants to fly its own drones, it only requires a $150 fee per person to take and pass a
certification at any FAA test site.

Figure 1.4 Example about Drones

Cloud Computing

Age-old distribute computing will make a comeback as companies realize that the computing they are
moving to at the edge is actually run more efficiently locally and on real hardware and not on the cloud.
Cloud will still play an important role in collecting and consolidating data from these remote processing
outposts.

Virtual workers

For years, IT has used consultants and contract programmers to make up for staff talent shortfalls. With
talent shortfalls so acute in areas like data science, analytics, security, etc., there will be a continued move
toward virtual workers who aren't employed by the company, but who work on a retainer basis that
guarantees a certain number of these specialists' hours per month to the company. In this way, IT has
guaranteed access to expert services, which it might not be able to afford or gain access to otherwise.

Show how Emerging Technologies can converge with existing technologies or

replace them.

Emerging technologies from AI to IoT to 5G communications build the foundation that will
enable innovations across the environmental sustainability field. For the last few years, emerging
develop solutions to address many environmental challenges, such as smart city IoT technology,
digital solutions that use natural resources more efficiently, and smart green buildings. Now you
can see this is one of example for environmental sustainability work, in this work emerging
technology have to connect with each other and work together. In worldwide many works also
they doing connect with each other. E.g.: Manufacturing, Robotic, Healthcare Centre

The internet has developed from a stage that associates a great many computers, into the system
of intuitive figuring stages now known as 'the cloud'. It can convey IT assets, (for example,
programming applications, figuring power and information stockpiling) adaptably and
proficiently on the web, as an administration. These assets can be scaled here and there to meet
request, and got to whenever, anyplace, from fixed and mobile devices. Various administrations
are advertised from 'public cloud', organizations are making their own 'private cloud' and these
are developing into ‘hybrid cloud' that fulfill spikes in need with public cloud services. This also
a one of example generally Emerging Technology can work together with others.

How IoT converge with other technologies

Artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things are both one kind of an innovation, yet what
makes them significantly all the more fascinating is the place they converge. As the utilizations
of IoT and AI are freely entrancing, their own technologies to work with together and they want
to grow up their technology.
IoT enables us to interface autonomous gadgets together and take advantage of them by enabling
them to trade information and connect. Imaging the intensity of information gathered through
every one of these devices. To help understand this vision, artificial intelligence comes into the
image.
AI has made a wide range application including healthcare, finance, and our day-to-day lives
with personal assistants like Alexa and Siri. Joining AI with IoT brings the guarantee of another
future.

The widespread use of IoT devices with industrial equipment provides a plethora of data. With
AI algorithms applied to the gathered data, business owners can detect potential issues, fix them
in advance and apply these insights to other cases. The system is gradually taught to recognize
external and internal factors that have an impact on the operation of the machines. By optimizing
resources and increasing industrial safety, the entire production process is streamlined.

Autonomous Vehicles
Vehicles are effectively trying to outpace human knowledge on the streets. With complex
sensors, cameras and other hard-and programming, self-driving vehicles become not so much
cutting edge but rather more genuine. A self-driving vehicle can assemble huge amounts of data
about streets and their conditions, navigation, traffic and different elements. At the point when a
self-governing vehicle is driving, an IoT-based framework in the vehicle can share data about the
street and the moving vehicle itself. This data is then collected and prepared by a vehicle's
computer. Utilizing its AI, a vehicle learns and responds to what the information has appeared.

Supply Industry
Combines blockchain and IoT products to deliver an end-to-end supply chain solution. Focusing
on the pharmaceutical and food supply industries, uses IoT-enabled shipping containers and
sensors to give real-time updates on shipping processes.
Implementing blockchain in their IoT devices allows for all parties involved in a medicine or
food supply shipping process to be fully aware of the chain of custody and also have any issues
they can find during the process. They can track the shipment root use in supply chain
application. They handling rules and privacy in their product successfully. (builtin.com)

How emerging Technologies can replace or become a disruptive technology

Better tracking and visibility: In industrial manufacturing company they not used
shipment tracking system. They used e mail or over the phone concept. In that time, they can’t
track the real-time their import goods or foods or anything they ordered, they have to call the
cargo or a supplier and ask their import goods or an Email can ask their goods.
But now worldwide shipment technology is developing day to day. Now they use real-time
location tracking system. Buyers don't need to tension and worry about their goods. Because they
can use one application and tracked their import goods location real time. Further don't need to
call the supplier, it's easy to handle both of them (Supplier and Customer)
The key to future success for freight forwarders lies in embracing next-generation disruptive
technologies like IoT. It enables carriers to make data-driven decisions that can improve their
operational efficiency and quality of service.
There have some issues for using tracking system some illegal software makers, they are
developing a same type of tracking system software and they are making difficulties for the
people by introducing fake software.

Improved productivity: Before IoT came their productivity is not developed. They used
workers and do their work day by day. In that time lot of waste, the time and sometimes
productivity quality also not good. After that came the IoT technology system, they used
automatic productivity machines and don't worry about productivity quality also, and now a day
they used their own automated machine system to developing their productivity to manage
productivity, monitoring, inventory, packing optimization and etc. After IoT system came they
can use workers to do another works.
Additionally, the data generated from workers’ devices and shipment scans can help freight
forwarders improve the efficiency of their operations.

Appendix C (Critical Criticism Report)

Introduction about Emerging Technology model is the first module of the third semester. Mrs. Ama
Kulathilaka is the lecturer who taught that module in an interesting way. We gained a vast knowledge
about the Emerging Technology because of our great and well educated lecturer. There was not much time
to complete the task while working weekdays and also doing my studies in weekend.

When I got the mail about the assignment, I had started to collect some details by using the internet and
the books. Then also I started to jot down the main points and I wrote those points separately.
Furthermore, I collected some details which can be helped for me to prove my points without any logic.
Hence I drafted and summarized my details then only I started to type it.

Thus, the main purpose of assignments is to increase the learning capabilities of students. Similarly, the
purpose of assignments is to increase the practical skills of students. I learnt a lot about Emerging
technology and Emerging Technology trends briefly by listening to the session and by going through for
more details to complete the task. By completing this task, I provided awareness and knowledge about the
topic.
