 TOPIC OF ACTIVITY IN THE FOCUSSED GROUP DISCUSSION:


SAFEGUARDING AND HARM AT THE INSTITUTION.
The activity was intended to find out the following,
a) The key issues affecting effective learning of participants at the university
b) What can be done as an individual to improve on learning abilities despite the
mentioned challenges.
c) What can be done by the institution to overcome the situation.
d) What risks do students face escalating the issues to the leadership of the institution.
Summary of the activity
Challenges that hinder effective learning;
 Limited funds to purchase gadgets like phones , laptops that are used during
online learning .
 Limited network connections thatare at times associated with service prviders
with low band width which can not allow a lot of people to use the network
effectively especially when a class or a group of people have lectures at the same
time .
 Limited information or less sensitization on use of certain methods of
information delivery.
 Duration of the learning periods in which the schedules are fixed and therefore
limited time for information analyzation by the students .
SOME OF THE METHODS EMPLOYED BY STUDENTS TO OVERCOME
THE CHALLENGES .
Discusion groups to improve on ones understanding .
Online Tutorials or videos on platforms like YouTube ; apps like TeachMeAnatomy
for better understanding.
I. Setting own reading time tables which helps one to understand even though a
little is read.
II. Positioning of ones self (being strategic ) to attain good network services in cases
of lack of data.
III. Reading ahead to understand better during lectures.
