Stretchers
There are times when passengers require a stretcher for their traveling needs. A stretcher is a row or multiple
rows of seats that are arranged to accommodate a patient who must be lying down.
Follow your carrier’s procedures for booking a stretchers as it relates to the number of seats and fares charged
for a stretcher passenger, as well as the pre-reserved seat data. Enquire if it is necessary to place the stretcher
PNR on any specific queue for monitoring purposes or additional action. Also, check whether the passenger
must first consult a Medical Acceptance desk, or if the PNR is controlled from Central Reservations Control
(CRC).
Method B - Create two PNRs- one for the passenger and the accompanying adult, and one second PNR for
the stretcher seats. Use Z/ in the name field for the stretcher seats.
Method A is the recommended method and is required if your airline uses the SabreSonic Check-in and
Gender Check-In. If the Gender Check-In option is activated, you must include the gender information of the
passenger. When correctly booked, the stretcher seats are designated as "R" for the gender.
Book the party of passenger, accompanying passenger, and stretcher in one PNR. Remember, the name field
must use the exact word "STCR" for the stretcher itself. See example formats below.

Once you redisplay the PNR, the stretcher information appears in the Facts field.
The following information applies if your airline uses the SabreSonic Check-in:
l The gender assigned to a stretcher is R. It is not possible to edit the gender R.
l You must check in the passenger and the stretcher at the same time.
l You may not place a stretcher passenger and the stretcher seats on the priority list.
l You may not rebook the stretcher passenger and the stretcher seats using the ACS revenue rebook
function.
l The stretcher and the stretcher passenger must be offloaded together, if necessary.
l When offloading an STCR passenger, you must use the /PR option, otherwise the system will reject it.
o Generally, the offload entry releases the passenger’s seat. The /PR option allows you to keep the
seat.
o Since the seats occupied by the STCR passenger cannot be used by other passengers, they should
not be released inadvertently when offloading the stretcher.
o If the stretcher passenger is no longer traveling, use the G1/XPR format to release the seats. Should
the released seats be unusable for a regular passenger, you may block them as broken, if necessary.
l Only the requesting passenger can be ON’d/XON’d. The STCR seat is ON’d/XON’d automatically
with the requesting passenger.
l Gate Reader does not read the information for STCR seats. It only downloads the data for the
requesting passenger.
The system places the STCR passenger and his seats to the US (Unhonored Seat) list for manual handling.

Note In the previous example, the price was stored automatically. If needed, you can also manually price
and store the fare. For more details , see the Itinerary Pricing or Price Quote Record modules.
2. Create a PNR for the stretcher; the number of seats equals the number of seats that make up the stretcher.

End and redisplay the PNR to view the stretcher in the Facts field.
If you created stretcher PNRs with a Corporate name field (on Other Airlines), you can display a list of all the
PNRs with a Corporate name for any flight and date. From the list, you can easily access the stretcher PNR.
Note To request this list, you must have a duty code of 1, 2, 5, 7 or ‡. A general sales agent with a duty code
of - (dash) cannot display this list, nor can a ticket agent with a duty code of 4.
