1.0. INTRODUCTION TO SIWES

The student industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) popularly calledIndustrial Training (IT)
by Nigerian students is a yearly program design by theinstitution in collaboration with the
industries to give students the opportunity togain practical working experience in their various ield
o study or area o speciali!ation" It is an eort to bridge the existing gap between class room
theoriesand practical#s in engineering$ management and other proessional programs in the
Nigerian tertiary institutions"Training is a key actor in enhancing expertise o a workorce" The world
is passing through one o the worst economic crisis in recent time" %oth thedeveloped and
developing economies are experiencing serious economic downturns.

1.1. HISTORY OF SIWES

The fund's main motivation for establishing and designing the scheme in 1973/74 was launched
against this context. The ITF (Industrial Training Fund) organization decided to aid all interested
Nigerian students and created the SIWES program. The federal government officially approved
and presented it in 1974.

1.2. OBJECTIVES OF SIWES

It is aimed at exposing students to industrial machines and equipment.
Professional work methods and ways of safeguarding the work areas and workers in industries,
offices, laboratories, hospitals and other organizations.
Make transition from school to work easier.
For students to be able to apply theoretical knowledge to real work situation.

1.3. CENTER FOR SOCIAL AWARENESS ADVOCACY AND ETHICS (CSAAE)

1.4. HISTORY OF CSAAE
CSAAE was founded by Dr. Godswill Uchenna Agbagwa, a Catholic priest and social ethicist. He
was born in Umueze, a small village in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria.

1.5. AIMS/ OBJECTIVES

CSAAE enables entrepreneurship, women and youth empowerment as well as quality primary
education, healthcare and sustainable environment
CSAAE is a non-profit dedicated to helping young people build great careers, cultivate a spirit of
entrepreneurship, become leaders of character and embrace their roles as critical actors in
building a better Africa.

1.6. CSAAE ROLE IN SIWES

program they educate the students on some digital skills they also, cultivate a spirit of
entrepreneurship, become leaders of character and embrace their roles as critical actors in
building a better Africa.
