Purpose of the role


The purpose of the position is to successfully manage the delivery of predominantly low risk/complexity
projects to plan, within the Regional Annual Integrated Works Program. The Program includes capital
works, maintenance and facilities management services, tactical renewal and minor works projects.
The position works collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams in Sydney Water and the Regional
Delivery Consortium within the NEC 4 contractual framework to ensure consistency, accuracy and
efficiency in project delivery, cost and risk management across all assigned projects within and across
asset classes. The position provides support to the project management team to enable the delivery of
the projects assigned to the team.

Accountabilities and deliverables


Technical
• Manage, under guidance of a senior managers, low risk projects or modular components of projects.
• Provide support to relevant project managers to assist in the achievement of project objectives.
• Build collaborative working relationships across multi-disciplinary teams in Sydney Water and the
Regional Delivery Consortium to support the delivery of projects.
• Assist in the development and management of Project Management Plans with clear targets, objectives,
Key Performance Indicators, scope of work and deliverables which reflect the agreement between Sydney
Water and the Regional Delivery Consortium.
• Provide support in the preparation of Business Cases to meet client expectations, including options
identification and analysis.
• Prepare and maintain project schedules in line with the business case expectations for all phases of the
project, and support the project manager to ensure that project schedule milestones are defined,
measured, managed and met
• Assist the project management team in the management of costs, variations, and related Key
Performance Indicators.
• Provide support in the preparation of project risk registers and the management/monitoring of mitigating
action implementation.
• Assist in ensuring Quality, Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental plans are monitored to
ensure compliance to contract and Sydney Water Management plans, including on-site audits and
inspections.
• Participate in regular meetings with the RDC and support the project managers in addressing early
warnings, changes to the program and compensation events, and broader safety, environment, quality
and constructability compliance matters.
• Support the project team in the implementation of project execution strategies, and the completion of
commissioning and close out tasks.
• Collate information and prepare reporting on project status, including Key Performance Indicators cost,
schedule, risk etc against the Project Management Plan.
• Monitor contingency costs against controls defined in the risk register and support the project manager in
the ensuring that opportunities are tracked and pursued.
• Prepare changes to project scope and ensure these are accurately reflected in the next update of the
program
• Prepare regular updates and revisions of the program from the RDC, showing latest progress and the
effect of both changes to the scope and other compensation events.
• Participate in Post Implementation Reviews, documenting and sharing outcomes and lessons learned.

Systems
The role is accountable for ensuring that all systems related to the planning, delivery and performance
management of the Annual Integrated Works Program are managed appropriately across the allocated projects.

Process

The role is accountable for ensuring that NEC 4 contract management processes are adhered to by Sydney
Water and the Regional Delivery Consortium for the allocated projects.

Qualifications, licences, and certifications
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant or related field or experience deemed equivalent.
Experience and skills
Experience
• Project management experience is not required, but is beneficial
• Experience working with key business stakeholders is beneficial
• A highly motivated project professional with:
experience in relevant sectors which deliver programs of capital works
strong track record of project delivery to plan
• Minimum 5+ years industry experience, including in:
Working within large, multi-disciplinary integrated teams and/or alliances
Planning and/or design and construction project delivery within relevant sectors
Contract management and administration
Managing complex stakeholders
Support role within a Program management setup and/or regional delivery of multiple investment
programs delivery via a range of contracting models.
