The Traditional Medical Perspective


Even today, traditional medicine usually wants nothing to do with adrenal fatigue.
They see it as "woo" or label your symptoms or concerns as "crazy" or "made up." Or,
at best, you're issued a pharmaceutical drug to relieve your surface-level symptoms
but never guided to an understanding of the root cause underlying your exhaustion.

The Functional Medical Perspective


Functional medicine at least acknowledges that adrenal fatigue is a real issue, but
believes it's caused when the adrenal glands "fatigue" and become unable to
produce adequate levels of cortisol anymore.

Eventually, you're run through an expensive battery of lab tests to see what's
happening at a biochemical level—checking your iron levels, your Vitamin D, and more.

Where you're deficient, you're given a supplement to improve it (rather than a


pharmaceutical), and provided some suggestions to change your lifestyle (getting
out of a moldy home, changing your diet, etc.).

You might see symptoms improve, but you still don't feel like you're thriving. Your

expenditure, especially with exercise, so you don't experience any major crashes.

Instead of focusing on the adrenal glands specifically, we recognize that the
